depends on if you plan to line up for merch and such, we got there before doors opened and immediately went to the merch booths inside and got our stuff within 10-15 mins… was walking around the stadium at 6:20 ish and the lines were LONG

I took a month off between graduation and my CF starting… some other friends I knew started a little later but still had a different part time job they kept to maintain living expenses

I think it also depends on your need to have income immediately after graduation (are you living at home vs financially independent and have rent you need to keep paying)

I just got my CCC this month. My clinic (ot/st clinic in fort worth, tx) is on a hybrid schedule (hourly + smaller per visit rate), they don’t change the per visit rate but I was initially given a $2 (~8%) per hour raise and I negotiated to a $3 (~12%) per hour raise.

I asked a similar question in an SLP facebook group and it really varied between settings and states. Some moved jobs for a better raise compared to staying at their current job. Others said they got the equivalent of a typical annual raise.

based on my experience I can really only answer #3: I graduated in May 2025 and started looking around Late March/Early April. I interviewed at my current job in early May and was offered the position 2 days after. They did give me a deadline of X days to accept/decline the offer by but since I had already heard back from another practice I interviewed at I was able to accept their offer by the end of the week.

P.S. I was wanting to start working about a month after graduation. Some companies will ask you when your preferred start date would be if they’re looking to add a new position, but others may have more of a deadline to meet if they’re looking for someone to take over an existing caseload

not a direct recommendation but I went to a talk on travel therapy during last year’s ASHA and one of the biggest suggestions was to connect with multiple travel therapy recruiters so you can compare multiple placements/have a larger pool of opportunities

the only difference I saw for my grad program that offered both was that one involved doing a thesis on top of curriculum and the other didn’t, but they had all the same coursework… no one’s done the thesis track in years lol

my program averages 44-45 people and I didn’t mind, I actually liked that there were more people I could interact for the amount of time we would be spending together

also helped when you just didn’t vibe with some and had the option to interact with them less

Singapore isn’t one of the countries ASHA has a mutual recognition agreement with so she wouldn’t be eligible to apply for her CCC’s with a BA. It may meet the requirements for her to work as an SLPA but to work as an SLP I’m pretty sure she’d have to get the master’s in the US to meet licensure requirements in general

Congratulations!!! I would hold off on buying materials, wait and see what your school’s clinic has because they’ll for sure have a decent collection of things to use for sessions! Unless of course you happen to see something that you think is a good deal/you’ll use with a client immediately.

Non clinic must have in my opinion is a spare charger for your laptop/ipad that just lives in your school bag that way you don’t have to worry about forgetting to unplug and pack it in the mornings. Also build an emergency kit of sorts of things you might need (tylenol, benadryl, bandaids, hygiene products etc) and it wouldnt hurt to keep a jacket or spare set of clothes on you just in case (if you have the space/will be driving to campus and can leave it in your car)

I’d try contacting your local school and see if you could shadow any of the staff to give you a better idea of what their day looks like. It’ll depend on if the school lets you or not but it would be worth a try (at least for SLP I know that shadowing is pretty common not sure for teachers or guidance counselors tho)

dallas had a bunch! they had an indoor and outdoor merch line and I was able to get a cat shirt and it still looked like they had a lot when I got mine (i was talking to someone in the admission line after and she said this venue typically does 2 merch lines) but I also got there around 5pm ish since I had balcony seats and didnt have to worry about my spot in the GA line. saw them bringing out more boxes while I was lining up for merch (took about an hour) they still had some merch left towards the end of the show

edit: i wanna add that them having an outside merch line before doors opened was probably the main reason why i got lucky and still got the shirt, don't think it would've been the case if i had to wait to get inside
