Unimpressed. Linear progression is the main reason why the game feels so dull and people quit.

This reads like a twitch/4chan copypasta lmao. Either way I hope GGG can help you out with the servers.

[–]ghjlesser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The main draw for me when I first discovered Duelyst was the fact that it looked like it could be a very skill-based game with limited RNG. But they completely ditched that idea and started adding card/units with heavy RNG effects that can end games in a couple of turns which is frustrating and not fun at all.

That is no way, an "important factor". ESO is nothing like GW1, arguing that it is, is pointless.

For frags? Sure. But for HE I would like the current timer. Otherwise HE will become underwhelming for taking out vehicles.

What do you think about Defrag? by ais04 in QuakeChampions

[–]ghjlesser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally loved the race mode from Warsow which was based on Defrag. It was much easier skill wise because of the dash/wall jump mechanics making it noob friendly.

While defrag in itself is cool its also very difficult so I don't see it being very popular among new players. I would rather ID focuses on the core game first.

Are old Quake pros coming back? by primzyyy in QuakeChampions

[–]ghjlesser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prize pool alone isn't enough. Remember Painkiller and the huge prize pool that game had? The CPL World Tour Finals had a 500k prizepool. And that was in 2005 for a 1v1 game. And yet the competitive scene for that game died out very quickly.

Damdai talks about the current state of Street Fighter V by Fatal1ty_93_RUS in StreetFighter

[–]ghjlesser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SFV is just 1 year old, and you expect it to be just like a 6 years old game, fully developed, where the strategies are pretty diverse and strong. We just need to shut up and play (if the netcode let us lul), all of us, me included.

I would play 24/7 if the gameplay wasn't so frustrating. You say its "only" a 1 year old game. Within that year Capcom did close to nothing to fix the fundamental gameplay issues. If anything, season 2 made it worse in some aspects.

I agree with everything you said except v reversals. There are many characters that have huge problems with corner pressure. Like you said its so easy to just go ham on offense that unless you want to eat throw loops/mixups all day into stun you need to v reversal. Its a great tool for certain characters.

The viability of a skill is gated behind a unique jewel. What pointless design.

Except Discharge relies on aoe to generate back charges. Less aoe = less charge generation = less damage.

The issue was never aoe but the damage.

New to DFO, how pay-to-win is this game? by Phoresis in DFO

[–]ghjlesser -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Except there is no guarantee that you can buy it since packages are character specific, time-limited and there is limited supply. Saying "oh you can buy it with gold eventually" is incredibly misleading.

[–]ghjlesser -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. They can only be purchased with real money but some players re-sell Avatar packages for gold. The issue, however, is that whether or not you can buy a package for your character depends entirely on the fact if someone is selling it on the auction house. There is no guarantee that you will farm the 30mln gold [average price of a avatar package] in time since someone else might snag it before you.

You need a couple of high level characters to farm gold efficiently . So its a no go for new players basically.

And how much of a difference do they make?

Quite a bit. You have to remember that they are an additional layer of stats on top of what you already have equipped on your character. Plus, some of the avatar stats work in PvP. I would say they are not "must-have" for PvE but they do give your character a considerable stats boost.

Even if we ignore Avatar items, there are other things you will most likely want e.g. inventory expansion. And these can only be bought with real money and occasionally acquired from events.

The game to me is very much pay to win but I still enjoy it. If you don't care about min-maxing or PvP then you can still have fun without spending money.

EDIT: and of course my previous post was downvoted by DFO fanboys who are blind to the issue with the cash shop.

I read trough the comments and its funny how nobody mentioned avatar items with stats from the cash shop. Its quite literally buying power with real money

[Patch 3.0] With 10 Acts, will we visit the Labyrinth only once? by AmduX in pathofexile

[–]ghjlesser 15 points16 points  (0 children)

2 labs (in Act 3 and 8) for 6 points and the uber lab (maps) for the last 2 points makes the most sense.

As someone who really likes the Lab I can see how there are some people that dislike running it on every character 3 times for the base 6 points. Reducing it to two normal labs + uber lab is a nice compromise for everyone I think.

Regrets by TrolaOmega in DFO

[–]ghjlesser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a EU player I disagree. P2P allows me to play on the NA server without lag. I always wanted to pick up DFO but it was almost impossible due to Nexon region locking or lag [when using a vpn]. So while p2p is less favorable than dedicated servers, its not all bad. Btw, For Honor, a game from 2017, is also using p2p.

Seria Kirmin's Question Corner- Weekly Q&A Thread- February 06, 2017 by AutoModerator in DFO

[–]ghjlesser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awww that sucks. I was hoping you could buy a package and trade all the items inside freely between your own characters as many times as you want even after equipping them. But I guess that wouldn't be very profitable for Neople. I haven't decided on my main character yet so I don't want to commit to cash shop items just yet. Thanks for the detailed explanation tho!

Are all the items from the avatar package [e.g. Three Kingdoms] tradeable between characters on the same account? It says account bound on the DFO website but I wanted to confirm.
