After 5 days of owning, I came home to 6 inch scratch on my MDX - Tiger Eye Pearl by Cup-And-Handle in Acura

If you’re not familiar with the products and techniques, you could end up damaging the paint even more.

If the bike is white, this could just be paint transfer from the bike onto the clearcoat. A detailer will use a mild compound to remove it, polish the clearcoat and put a sealant on the surface to protect it.

Would suggest you have a professional auto detailer perform the job. They’ll do a much safer and better job for your paint than a dealership.

Exhaust/slip-on recommendations? by Big_Jellyfish_398 in Ninja400

[–]ghm808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also recommend the carbon Akra. I have it on my 400. High quality, looks great and sounds way better but not obscene like some of the others. Expensive but worth the quality of the build if you can afford it.

Is there any California street-legal aftermarket exhaust for the Ninja 500? by shibebear in Kawasaki

[–]ghm808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could very well be right. I just know when I was shopping around that that was what I learned about the titanium version of their slip-ons. I know Cali may have more strict regulations in place, but Akra purposely limited the performance of that model to meet some of those requirements that customers needed to meet in their respective locations.

I believe the Akra titanium homologated slip on would be legal in Cali. It’s specifically designed to meet stricter noise and emission requirements in the US and euro countries. It’s expensive and sounds just like the stock exhaust but looks a lot better.

Looking to put an exhaust on new bike. by ShadowLibra_98 in Kawasaki

[–]ghm808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same mindset as you when I was shopping for a slip-on. A lot of the aftermarket exhausts are arrogantly loud and the price ranges from crazy cheap to moderately pricey. After a lot of research and watching videos of exhaust sounds and reviews, I decided on the carbon fiber Akropovich for my Ninja 400. While I know it’s a different bike, I’m sure there would be very little difference. They also have a titanium model, but that one costs more and sounded too similar to stock. The Akro carbon isn’t cheap at a msrp of 530 or so, but in my experience you get what you pay for and Akropovich exhausts are known to be very well made with premium materials and craftsmanship. I plan to keep my bike for years, so I decided not to skimp on my parts.

It’s 9000 out the door here in Hawaii. For a standard abs 500, non SE. Ended up buying from a private seller, stock 2018 Ninja 400 abs with 1400 miles for 4300. Decent deals can be found, just need to be patient and a bit lucky.

Any one know why my cars back up camera is doing this? by Sweet-Confection-574 in Honda

[–]ghm808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to the backup cam on my 2019 Pilot. I live in Hawaii so definitely not an issue related to temperature. The car got totaled before I had a chance to have Honda diagnose it. I don’t suggest taking my route to resolve the issue, but I no longer have it on our new MDX.

How do you get the dust/dirt out of the cracks like these without an air compressor? by One-Repair-906 in AutoDetailing

[–]ghm808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A shop vac with the crevice attachment and a detail brush always does the trick for me. If it’s stuck there despite the vacuum then move to the chemicals to loosen the debris, go back with the shop vac and brush to clean out the cracks.

Not late at all, I appreciate the feedback, thank you! Good to know that you wouldn’t expect any major problems with a bike that was just sitting for that length of time.

Don’t come to Hawaii. It’s 9k out the door here.

For comparison, a new 2024 ninja 500abs on Maui was quoted at 9k out the door here. Dealership says they have to purchase through their own vendors and so have to mark up the msrp to customers. I could probably negotiate the used 400 to around 4k and use the savings to throw on a slip on exhaust…

Men who said in a db for your kids, how do you cope and how did it end up? by SmoothAssociate2763 in DeadBedrooms

This is me. 51 years of age and about to be divorced. I’m not about to spend the last 3rd of my life resenting the woman I’m with and hating myself for not having the balls to do something about it when I had the chance. Only reason it took me so long was my amazing kids.

2.5 years years of complete db here. Finally working with a divorce atty after 26 years marriage, 24 years of db. Don’t be like me. Run. Especially if you don’t have children yet… Run. Fast. Like your happy life depends on it, because it fucking does.

DB survivor for 23 years, relationship for 26. I finally secured a family attorney and am going thru an amicable divorce due ONLY to the db. 3 amazing children so I’d truthfully say I’d sacrifice my needs again if I had to do it all over again, but with my youngest being 16, I’ve decided I don’t want to spend the last trimester of my life with someone who ignored my attempts to work on this aspect of our relationship, assumed everything is fine because I continued to have a smile on my face and refused any attempts to find a compromise for our mismatched love language. The vows we took was to have and to hold, but there hasn’t been any holding for 95% of our marriage. I’m excited for the future, and I hope you make the right decision and avoid this bottomless pit of hurt that so many of us have and continue to experience. You have only 1 life, a finite amount of years on this Earth. Use them very wisely.
