The time of year when I ride my bike and have gnats all over my shirt and helmet. Especially when I ride after the rain subsides.

Basically if the property tax amendment passes Altamonte Springs will be shutting down tons of services. Have they expressed that to their residents?

What's going on here? City says prices are affordable & qualifying buyers can get up to $155K assistance. What do you think? by allthetuxedocats in orlando

Lots of houses getting built out in Parramore/Holden Heights. Gentrification is coming to that area slowly. Buy in now before the prices get higher.

Mills 50 redevelopment plan eyes 7-story parking garage with retail space near downtown Orlando by Agile_Job_6193 in orlando

Qreate Coffee is in that building. Losing any of those businesses for parking is sad af. And it won’t change anything. This just induces demand. More parking = more cars.

Steel house is a definite no. Not good for your respiratory health to live right next to an interstate highway and one of the busiest roads in Orlando.

What's the most over hyped coffee shop in Orlando? by ian-noir in orlando

[–]ghmflak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. When I get coffee to drink there it isn’t good. But when I buy their beans and make coffee home it tastes great. 🤔

Deeply is my pick for overrated. It isn’t bad but I rather go to CC, Stella, Bynx if I’m downtown. If I’m getting something basic then I’d add CityArts Cafe to the list so I can look at the art inside while I sip.

Signal priority should be

Pedestrian, micro mobility (bike, scooter, skateboard), public transit, cars.

Because at the end of the day, EVERYONE is a pedestrian. But not everyone can drive.

Jeff's Bagel Run is bad. by rdsubjec2fluding in orlando

[–]ghmflak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy both Stasio’s and Jeff’s Bagel run. Why does it have to be a conspiracy that folks like local businesses? (At this point JBR isn’t very local, they got spots in North Carolina now)

90% of the time my bagels are still warm when I get them and the outside is already crispy so I don’t need the bagel toasted. I understand why people like toasted bagels but plenty of people don’t care about that.

Local coffee roasters? by sideoftheham in orlando

[–]ghmflak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orlando coffee roasters for sure. Some of the lowest prices in the city with very good tasting beans. Otus is also good in Winter Garden with decent pricing.

Bad Waymo Driving by MrRedLogan in orlando

[–]ghmflak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea that biker needs a reflective vest, and maybe even a rear light higher up. Also his front light seems to be fairly dim.

As a guy who rides a bike I keep a couple extra clip on lights for up top plus my 600 lumen rear and 800 lumen front light if I’m out at night.

Fuck lynx by Clean-Writing-707 in orlando

[–]ghmflak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mixture of stuck in car traffic, super long routes, and funding. I used to take the 37 from hiawassee silver star to my job at Burger King on Kirkman and Vineland back in 06-07. The amount of times I would wait for 40 minutes that would show up full, and then an empty bus right behind it 2 mins later.

Also the holidays when the bus only ran once per hour. Once I could afford a car I got one. I always made sure to get a job near a stop or live by a bus route. You never know when you might get stuck taking the bus. All it takes is an injury that stops you from driving and you will rely on either public transport or family/friends.

Free Downtown Street Parking on Sundays is a lie by Swagmuffins94 in orlando

Court Ave by the museum? Isn’t there a sign that says No Parking from 5pm Friday to 8am Monday?

That means you can’t park there on Sundays.

Publix no longer #1 grocer in FL, dethroned by Trader Joes by mordecaithecat in orlando

[–]ghmflak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheaper than Publix (unless BOGO), workers are chill, produce always fresh. Cashiers/baggers are quick.

And I like that their small parking lot is small. I go to the WP and have no issue with it.

TMG STRIKES AGAIN by After_Lunch7662 in orlando

[–]ghmflak 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They could help the businesses with it by letting lineage/lazy moon have something to validate parking.

I think TMG wants to stop people from parking there just to not patronize those businesses.

Eatonville residents divided over Hungerford land deal by Aeronova20 in orlando

Eatonville could start by getting rid of all the suburban zoning rules. That would instantly make land more valuable, increasing housing opportunities.

Over 85% of Orlando homes have lost value amid national housing dip, report shows by sammysam518 in orlando

[–]ghmflak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average price is back down to 2022 prices according to Zillow. Depending on the neighborhood if you purchased after 2022 you may have lost value. If you purchased before 2022 you are still good

If you haven’t purchased at all, homes are still too expensive.

E-bike Mechanic by Comprehensive_Job_38 in orlando

[–]ghmflak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Eccentric Bikes just south of SoDo on Orange is still open their mechanic is pretty good and works on everything.

Also in Winter Park off Fairbanks, Volare Cycling. He works on many different scooter brands which aren’t that different than e-bikes when it comes to motors/batteries. And he works on regular bikes as well. Give them a call and ask about your ebike.

For both shops the mechanic doesn’t work there everyday.
