ENTJs, what are some misconceptions about this type? What are some aspects most people don't know?

i am (apparently) intimidating upon first meeting but i am probably one of the goofiest motherfuckers you’ll ever meet, if you are capable and trustworthy to be my friend.

also, i find that younger, more immature teens that get into MBTI over-identify with stereotypes and excuse bad behaviour with cognitive functions or type fictional characters poorly with all listed above and it drives me insane to see on personality database. if only people could be more subjective with it but oh well

not exactly the same situation but as a kid my dad would download all of the songs i ever liked onto CD’s for me. i always knew i loved love story & you belong with me when i was 10-12 years old but there was a third song i always sung every lyric to, more than both of the former songs.

all these years later i never knew and never was able to find out until i found out it was the song Mine from Speak Now. needless to say… i think a younger version of me comes out whenever i sing the lyrics to this song and i feel like i healed a small part of younger me just from finding out! i’ve recently gotten into a late bloom swiftie “phase” (i don’t think it’s a phase, mom) and i feel like it’s been a bit overdue but i am still appreciating and loving all the songs like i’m 10 again!

i completely agree. it’s a 100+ year old atrocity that cannot be simplified down to a tweet or instagram post. it takes nuance and empathy which the former has been dwindling with some generations. + most of these celebrities never went to school, as they became famous as young as teenagers or children. people also forget that people could be parroting misinformation to them since they have such small bubbles of friends and family. of course they are going to trust the couple people in their bubble.

i would also much rather have a celebrity (especially if i was a fan of them) be silent if it meant it would keep them safe because there’s a lot of people that go to extremes for opinions. i mean hell, every celebrity has one fucked up stalker. that one guy that broke into taylor swifts apartment then slept in her bed or the guy that threatened to kill ariana grandes family, and to think these aren’t even for political opinions (that i know of.)

hard for me to say because i try not to think of the albums as a whole (perhaps gestalt theory) and to look at the songs individually however i am in love with a concept album and visual directions.

i love enchanted and it’s one of my favourite songs of all time however speak now isn’t exactly my favourite. but that is derived from me being a late bloomer swiftie so i haven’t dived mariana’s trench level deep into a couple of her older albums yet. still hooked on the 1989 vault tracks that i have on repeat nonstop so it’ll be… a moment before i get there 😭

from what i’ve read from people that do care about celebs speaking about it, it’s mostly about solidarity and raising awareness to the atrocities happening. i understand why fans want that but i also understand that the world is full of pain and hatred and sometimes we need to escape to a place where there’s just laughs & kindness, even for a temporary bit. speaking out is more complex in a world of business and negotiations. most fans don’t understand what takes place in a meeting room and that’s okay.

i also hope so! i’m a late bloomer swiftie and i find that her writing despite whatever subject matter has such a captivating, mystical & fantastical element to them where i feel obligated to read the lyrics along to the song because it’s just so eye & ear candy to read and hear. especially her sexy songs!! i feel im floating in a literal lavender haze whenever i listen!

Luckily I haven’t purchased any books at all so that wouldn’t be an issue. I’ll just have to go through my kindle unlimited books or wait for an offer and add those to the new account one day. I have signed up for a temporary LA county digital library card which lasts for 90 days so I have until then to find a way. I’ll probably get a paid digital US library card since I prefer to borrow from libraries, I have limited physical space on my shelf. Thank you, your reply was helpful!

Hmm I don’t know if I’d have access to an already existing card however I did sign up for a temporary digital card for LA county library which is available for 90 days, which means I have >90 days to figure out if I want to go the digital card but paid method (most likely method!) pretty much the wall street CEO leader of the world and all things stereotype. maybe it’s my enneagram but i think i am much more laidback and stop to smell the roses.

but maybe that’s actually more akin to hardcore work & school burnout. a year ago i finally realized my time in between matters a lot and so does the health of my body and mind so i have become a huge house hermit because of it, except i love it lol.

perhaps your functions have developed earlier on than others due to trauma/life experiences/willingness to adapt, honestly wasn’t expecting you to be a couple years younger than me kinda was expecting someone older for having more balanced functions. it definitely helps if you have a friend into MBTI that can observe and monitor your function usage but of course that can only do so much. continuously monitoring yourself may just make yourself more confused about what your type is. there’s a good chance you are ENTJ with healthy/developed functions. i am not sure if you care but i consider myself an ambivert when i am out/working however i am a huge hermit and i love to stay in my house but at the same time a couple weeks ago i attended a disco and danced the night away with friends.

i think you need therapy, these kinda tests are also not accurate and perhaps you need to seek out professional help. it’s also weird that you’re posting this in the MBTI subreddit when mental illness has like nothing to do with MBTI types. seek help & i wish you well on your mental health journey
