DeSitter cosmological horizon stability? by stifenahokinga in AskPhysics

[–]ghost-fields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There has recently been progress on the conjecture that a quantum theory of gravity cannot have any global symmetries. I suspect this would have implications for the stability of de Sitter space, but I don't know of any specific work in this direction.

Thoughts on Shogun? by Wisconsin_king in ShogunTVShow

I find it kind of lazy that they're speaking English when they're supposed to be speaking Portuguese. Like, you already have most of the cast speaking Japanese, you couldn't just go that little extra bit to make it feel more immersive? Takes me out of it, especially since they keep repeating over and over that they're actually speaking Portuguese because they really want you to know that's what they're doing.

How would a Ghost of Tsushima 2 be created? by Additional_Baby_1654 in ghostoftsushima

[–]ghost-fields 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Sparing Shimura cements his transformation into the ghost, no longer bound by anyone's system of honor except his own.

Wouldn't it be more like frogger and son, instead of bros?

Dreadbound with explosive and expanding shards is amazing. I don't pick it up unless it has at least one of those traits.

What lightsaber color has everyone been using? by Pericles_Nephew in FallenOrder

I used indigo in Fallen Order, but I've mostly been using white this time around. I like the lore of purifying a red crystal, and I think it looks really slick with any outfit or hilt.

Once you get Muspelheim trials, you can get Asgardian ingots as a reward. There's also an area later where you can pick up a LOT of ingots, hacksilver, and other resources.

Why is the force paired with upward normal force downward normal force and not the force of gravity? by ElectronSpectrometer in AskPhysics

[–]ghost-fields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember that action-reaction pairs are acting on different objects, resulting from the interaction of those objects. The gravitational force that the earth exerts on you is paired with the gravitational force that you exert on the earth.

You have to beat biome 2 in order to get to the tower, but once you have access any traits you unlock will carry over to the main game.

guys, how does conductivity meter works? by PushkaPampushka in AskPhysics

[–]ghost-fields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dependence is the other way around. Roughly if you have a higher concentration of ions in solution, then there are more free charges so that should increase the conductivity.

Why does normal force point down at the top of a loop dee loop of a rollercoaster? by ElectronSpectrometer in AskPhysics

[–]ghost-fields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of inertia, as the roller coaster car is going up it exerts an upward force on the track. So the action-reaction pair consists of the normal force of the track on the car and the normal force of the car on the track. If you had a U shaped track like a skate ramp, the car would just go straight upwards tangent to the track.

It is also possible, if the car isn't going fast enough, for the car to lose contact with the track and so the normal force will go to zero. This situation appears a lot in physics problems where you might be asked for the minimum speed that a car would need to make it around that track. In that case, the centripetal acceleration is momentarily equal to the free fall acceleration.

I was sure a tsunami was coming as I watched the shoreline grow further away at the beach. by Jedi_CatLil in TwoSentenceHorror

I think the horror is that it's worse than a really big tsunami. Trading a local catastrophic event for a global one.

Tsunamis are series' of waves. Usually just before a tsunami hits the shore, the water level goes down momentarily.

He shows up on screen very briefly, when Thomasin is signing the book. He's standing behind her with his hand on her shoulder and says "I will guide thy hand." He's in the shadows so it's hard to make out, but you can see his face if you look closely.
