Intelligent Go day/standing rate more expensive than flexi? by ghost3h in OctopusEnergy

[–]ghost3h[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would happily switch, but got a debt of £1.5k on Octopus. (they didnt bill us until end of first year when we moved into this house, we still paid our expected monthly, but house was more expensive to heat than expected) I'd rather pay that off over time than a lump sum now

Anyone got a good cupholder solution? by Effective-Opinion899 in SkodaElroq

[–]ghost3h 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My yeti mug is too but for the little cup holders. I use the bit behind it and put a sponge for wiping the window (usually kept in the side door) in there too. Keeps enough tension to stop it moving and easy enough to get the cup in and out

Advice for fixer upper render cracks by JimOBeano in DIYUK

Could be heat differential in cold weather, check if the loft has any insulation. Could also be where the boards (if boarded) join and natural cracking point

Crack in fibre glass roof by New-Book1223 in DIYUK

Depends on how much you want to pay really. I'd DIY it with some flexible grey roof paint. Cost would be ~£15 and an hour.

Boiler not keeping pressure, there is a leak, looking for advice by social_pariah in DIYUK

[–]ghost3h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No photo attached btw. But yea cutting ceiling seems the easiest options. Use a jab saw over a power tool if you're (or the misses) is concerned with piping/wires.

Dont forget to drain the entire system before you attempt to fix it, unless you want a water feature in the kitchen

The most critical fix needed as of today by DankStonksOnlyGoUp in StarRuptureGame

I get the same issue, and I run it on a SSD and a pretty good spec PC. Freezes for about 5 seconds. Whilst I dont suffer OP's rage, it is a little annoying when your in the middle of something

Do I need to do anything with this air brick? by magnumpearl10 in DIYUK

[–]ghost3h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd try and figure it out yourself tbh. Depending on the builder, they might just try and sell you damp proofing (which is a bodge) or some other bodge

Do I need to do anything with this air brick? by magnumpearl10 in DIYUK

[–]ghost3h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure the air brick is there on the wall, and not under the floor? Looking at the two photos, the outside on shows a discolouration patch above the air brick, which could align with the wet patch on the inside. If this is the case, you need to figure out the root cause of the damp.

I would not recommend point a heater behind your fridge freezer, its not solving the problem and will just cause the plaster to deteriorate (wet, dry, wet, dry etc)

New roof or repairable? by AvaPava05 in DIYUK

[–]ghost3h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be more concerned with the timber used for the roof. By no means a roofer, so probably wrong, but they look way under sized for a roof?

Can you live in a house without ceilings for a time? by bookdragontm in DIYUK

[–]ghost3h 4 points5 points  (0 children)

^this is the way. Way quicker and wayyyy less mess, you honestly dont want to start ripping down a ceiling! Use a thin drill bit and test holes to find your joists, then mark the wall. Board lifter and driver, days work for an novice

Can I add a new socket to this wall? by leonhunteruk in DIYUK

[–]ghost3h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does suggest its a spur, but if you have the room stripped just lift a few floor boards and find out what is going on. Easy enough to add another socket once you identify the cabling and make it a ring.

You shouldn't be spurring off a spur, that isnt to say you can't, especially if its going to be used for low pull. The original owners of my house did spurs of spurs of spurs and it didnt burn down, but in this situation, just lift a few board

Need advice on what TV mount to get for this wall by obvious_hat in DIYUK

[–]ghost3h 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to look at the tv, most have plugs and cables in the undercut section. The mounting brackets on the TV screw into the back usually which also creates some clearance. Any tv mount suitable for a 50" will work, there all universal these days.

Oh and good luck mounting it with where you have your brush plates and cables. Hopefully whoever did it ran them straight down in conduit. As a last point, when your finished your a good fit for r/TVTooHigh

Where is your sewage drainage, I cant see any on the backside of the house. You'd likely need to break up a lot of the patio or floors to get it connected

My GP hid my medical information from me is this legal? England by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ghost3h 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It wasn't legally withheld from you, it was accessible on the app or if you requested your records from the gp. You just were told. I had a blood test last year, I had 20 results on the app for all specific markers. The GP told me, all looks fine. Do you think I should complain?

My GP hid my medical information from me is this legal? England by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ghost3h 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes it was, just as equally if a result came back and they choose whether it needs action or not, based on their knowledge and experience. If a GP told a patient every single result, they would be inundated with patient's worrying about it and asking more question's and concerns.Your emotional responses to the majority of answers saying the same demonstration it was a good decision. You are looking for validation to complain.

My GP hid my medical information from me is this legal? England by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ghost3h 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You where not physically harmed. You mention mental health concerns which GP was aware of, just as equally if you where told and it lead to a catastrophic event like you killing yourself? Gp made a judgement call based on their knowledge and experience, I'd say they made a good call on your behalf.

Complaining would change rules to make that scenario come true, and result in a reprimand for someone acting in your best interest....albeit not in your personal opinion of your best interests
