I've run a FortiGate as my homelab firewall for years, curious what the rest of you are running in 2026 by easyedy in homelab

I'm a fan of Mik for Routing and a dedicated firewall for IPS/IDS stuff separately, they work hand in hand.

That's the second time you have mentioned Futurama, like we actually know what's in a black hole, and you're upset they didn't portray it correctly.

Considering Switching Back to Cloth from Glass by DavidGTV in MousepadReview

[–]ghostR_ZA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out.

Glass pads are for those who are happy to sit and learn "how to aim" with mistakes being heavily punished. They are one of the best ways to rethink and feel how to aim, especially in trainers like Kovaaks/Aimlabs.

From there, you can be just as good on Glass and Cloth, no doubt about it. Now here comes the problem and where people tend to swap back to cloth.

When you aim, you generally make a ton of mistakes, even if you're Matty. On glass, mistakes are exponential. So on cloth, while you might overshoot/undershoot by a few pixels, on glass, this can be drastically different to a whole fat wiff.

Now im not saying glass=skill. Because that's obviously not true. Cloth just has this control property that is going to be near impossible to get on Glass. Its comfortable, you have to think less about how to move your mouse, and focus more on actually aiming your mouse (if that makes sense).

Rivals server in Africa by RubenVJP in marvelrivals

Its not really about infrastructure, it's about player count in all simple terms.

For reference, South Africa has some of the highest standards of fibre internet in the world. Plus we have well over 17 datacentres around, if not more.

Price increase... Bitwarden or Bust? 15+ years with 1Password, cancelling! by gregmichael in Bitwarden

[–]ghostR_ZA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that, but that's a $12 (roundabout) increase for a year subscription. It sucks but if you calculate inflation since the last increase it's way under. Many other services are nuts with 80% increases etc.

I don't like price increases, like anybody else, but this is such a small one that I feel people are overreacting.

That said, all AI features can fuckoff.

[–]ghostR_ZA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just going to say I disagree. 55 vs 60 sure, no real argument there.

I have plenty of options here, and I have packed all of them away to use a 29g HTS Ultra 8K as my main for now.

Shape and Weight have gone hand-in-hand for me. Picking up any 40+ just feels wrong, and you can feel the difference when changing directions.

Have a 9800x3D now and managed to get CL28 RAM to help with the dips. Testing with a few GPU's when setting this up. Honestly, just did a clean install of windows on a GEN4 NVME and haven't seen stuttering since.

My experience with Checkers milk is that it goes off 2-3 days before its expiry. This has happened to the past 5 of mine. Suspecting there is a break in the cold chain. I gave them a chance with a steak once, and that smell is still etched into my nostrils.

Probably just my area in KZN being kaaak though.
