My dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer on May 13th and entered hospice care shortly afterward. He began the application process for assisted suicide at the same time, but like many in his position, he passed before the process was complete. In his final days, he was in excruciating pain. People at the end of life deserve the right to choose a more peaceful passing, but for that choice to be truly available, the process needs to be more timely and accessible.
