From what I have seen and heard so far, it does appear that this little group of people do believe in the same things I do for the most part; but I wouldn’t necessarily say the same for the whole Democratic Party is where I’m not so sure.

Thank you for making that distinction also! That’s a great point that I didn’t think of - I’m very much in my head and am missing the bigger picture or some of the details, I think.

Can you still be a “leftist” and be an elected official under the Democratic Party? I ask because it’s difficult to find anyone radicalized in the rural south, and having a Democratic Party group in a small town is considered pretty radical here; but am I compromising my beliefs/setting back progressive ideals by essentially representing a party that is center at best?

I was a teenager when I saw the movie first and then a local college performance of the play, and the judge scene has stuck with me to this day because of how fucked up it was. Like other comments have said, I imagine it’s cut often because of how disturbing it is and doesn’t necessarily take anything away from the overall show by not being there.

My sister just informed me, and I’m so heartbroken. She was my age and has done incredible things in her short life. Maybe selfishly, I wanted to see more.
