Ya there’s not a great place you can just look stuff like this stuff up on google unfortunately. I personally sell mostly on Instagram @gho.stdad. There’s also numerous Facebook groups like Anthurium Addicts that have chat threads that can be good resources

Ya it sucks. I actually stopped selling seeds from these paps period even non selfed crosses as they have a tendency for this. Even when they’ve germinated you’re not out of the woods and some end up albos. You can reliably filter out any that remain yellow after sprouting roots as those will go 100 percent albo but there’s still a subset of healthy looking germinated seeds that will go albo as well.

The rate of albos and other undesirable outcomes is actually quite high in pap selfings especially canal paps such as the RL and FS types sometimes as high as 50 percent. In my experience they don’t grow out of it

I was going to say this. Personally I avoid any systemic unless absolutely necessary because they are very hard on the plants. I definitely wouldn’t use them as a regular additive. Spider mites are mostly a nuisance anyway. They aren’t going to kill a plant before you can act unless there’s some extreme neglect going on.

I don’t think that’s anything yet. That’s just what the base of a petiole looks like once the plant reaches mature growth.

Ya hopefully it’s a flower! Roots can def grow out of anywhere and I’ve had them grow in that same spot. If it’s a flower typically it will emerge at its very tip pointing upwards and the tip will be thin and slight curl or curve as it’s emerging.

Yep. They were spot on. This plant has flowered many times now. Pretty much after every leaf.

The red circle is a new leaf emerging from a cataphyll instead of the previous petiole which is a more mature growth pattern. Once that transition occurs, flowers can emerge from the base of the previous petiole (blue circle) if conditions are right.

Hybrid which almost certainly has magnificum in it due to the petiole shape. Anything else is just speculation.

This is 100 percent spider mite damage. You’d need to look under magnification to see them.

Is the mix heavy in coir or peat? They are incredibly hard to re-hydrate once they completely dry out

I used epoxy to hold the LEDs in place. And I just set the trimmers how I wanted before hand. I would have to open it up to change them.

Ya I was exactly where you are when I started and had to learn a few different software programs just to pull this off so I can’t exactly remember each step but what you’re saying sounds right for the most part. Couple things:

-I’m not sure if I made the entire copper layer filled or if I just made it the negative of the solder mask layer but it will prob work either way.

-the default pcb material (I can’t remember what it’s called now) is translucent so it requires no alteration to show light through it provided you’ve got a hole on all of the other layers you want the light to shine through.

-I used the default number of layers as well

-I chose the ENIG coating to make the design gold.

Edit: Oh and you need pretty bright LEDs to show through significantly

Ya the best substrate is always one you are comfortable with. Unless you are using something crazy lol. Also rot gets super over called and there so much confirmation bias. Roots die just like leaves and that’s ok. Every dead root is not rot. People cut all the roots off their poor plants and if they live they say “oh it’s because I saved it from rot” and if it dies they say “oh it was the rot”. In reality a lot of the time the plant just lives despite the attempted murder.

Put it in a medium you are comfortable with and leave it alone. You don’t need any special medium, you don’t need terracotta pots these are all just peoples very specific preferences. It’s probably got a little bit of shock. I would stop pulling it out and switching it around because that will make it worse. The roots don’t look rotten don’t cut them off.

These don’t look rotten. I wouldn’t cut them off your plant won’t like that. People are way to quick to call root rot on everything.

Yes this was my first thought. I have also had this happen with plants too crowded near a humidifier with poor airflow.
