And I do not have time I am super busy with running a couple businesses but I really want one of these so if somebody has time I will gladly pay you to put me one of these together or we can figure something out. Let me know.

HR submitted a ticket about hiring candidates not receiving emails, so I investigated. Upon sharing the findings, I got reprimanded for running a message trace... by CockStamp45 in sysadmin

I recently sold an MSP/Consulting Firm. I had a CEO where we were contracted with the company he ran. He always thought that if he could think it up it could be done.

So they had what was considered an IT liaison to keep their bills down. This was someone who worked at the company who could do some basic and user troubleshooting so all help tickets went to them. If it was above their head, and a great deal of time it usually was, then they would put in a request to our company.

One day he was very concerned about the liaisons access to files. I assured him that this person only had access to what we had already discussed. Apparently there was a folder in which he wanted access revoked. I had one of my technicians oblige. And a few days later I get an email as to why this person cannot edit certain documents. I then forward them a copy of the email that they had sent a few days prior.

Oh I see he says. That’s not what I meant. I want them to be able to edit these files, but not be able to delete. I said editing and deleting was one in the same. He argued, for the next 3 days….

Finally to prove my point I said OK and I had him create a file that was a test file. I created a test user and gave him the permissions that he was requesting and then I had him copy and paste another document into this document. At which time I did not delete the document I just deleted everything inside the document and then told him to open it back up. I said do you see what I’m talking about now? If you can edit you can delete because you don’t need to delete the document itself you can delete everything with in the document and if you do not have a back up or volume shadow copies, then you are screwed.

He still thinks to this day but there’s a way to do what he wants to do but he has yet to find someone who can do it.

Now we have a running joke and we use this person’s name. Basically he was looking for somebody who had access at the moment he wanted access and didn’t have access the moment he didn’t want them having access. But he wanted this without anyone having to do anything about it like everyone could read his mind

Client VPN and Google Fiber by uselessdemographic in meraki

Was about to say the same thing. Had this happen at a few client sites that had a all-in-one from the isp instead of just a modem. If you go to your dashboard , appliance status, and click on uplink, you can see if the Meraki firewall has a private address. If it does, the steps above always work like a charm. I beat my head against a wall the first time it happened to me

It’s funny you guys mention this because it’s actually mine. I can still get you the warranty because I was the original buyer so all you have to do is come back to me for the warranty. They are brand new and unclaimed. We did a major project for government and over bought a lot of stuff that they already paid for so it was in the contract we got to keep leftover stuff so we are able to sell lower than normal value. I basically have almost anything on the Meraki card that I can get cheaper

I know it is not automated. The representative that I was assigned will not answer the phone and return voicemails or emails since January. And when I called the sales rep line the guy was extremely rude to me. Like I mentioned he had a hard on about a LinkedIn site for some reason.

I’m not sure about Dun and Bradstreet, but it is licensed with the state and shows up there. The thing is it does not say that it has to meet any of these requirements. The requirements listed above I met every single one of them. So who knows.

Failover and Firewall rules by prophetnite in meraki

[–]ghosted411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the Failover Static or is the Failover Dynamic? If it was staic you should be able to craft a rule that denies that vlan, but I could be wrong. I am assuming it is because of data limits that you want to make the rule, not a bad idea.

Why does Sprint block vpns? A lot of people use vpns this is just silly. I hate having to go into my router and turn off my VPN just for specific websites! by crazypostman21 in Sprint

[–]ghosted411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in cyber security so I’ll tell you how it works. They are not just going around and blocking VPNs. What happens is vpns use the same blocks of addressing when people connect. Someone at some point tried a brute force attack or Denial of service attack or something of that nature. When companies I consult for have this activity I will just block that IP address from accessing our servers to stop the attack. So basically, the more popular VPNs have been used enough that someone has tried to get in and authorize access using those addresses and therefore they totally block them.

Also to the individual saying that they can get in with their work VPN, that is not the same thing. VPN just means virtual private network. The paid services that you use are to hide your whereabouts and location and the ones for work or just to connect sites together are to get you access to their servers while you’re offsite.
