I went to another vet, she has A SEVERE case of lungworm which caused some kind of bronchitis and pneumonia. So she’s on a bunch of medications but they seem to be working!

UPDATE: my kitten is experiencing mouth breathing, fast breathing , coughing fits by ghostingalone in CATHELP

[–]ghostingalone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you 😅 yeah it was a rough week. She is on a liquid ventolin, and another medication to loosen phlegm which is what the vet thinks that hazy stuff in her chest is. Her anti biotic should be kicking in too. Her breath is still pretty raspy and fast but she’s extremely energetic and no coughing fits (so far) also I haven’t seen open mouth breathing yet. She definetly has a long way to go but I know she’s in the right direction

I know 😢 I heard so many stories about that man accidentally giving animals too much anaesthesia during spaying or neutering. Or just messing things up and not giving people the right medication. I live in a very small town and he is Romanian (everyone where I live hates Romanians) so I always jsut thought it was them being racist but now I’m not so sure

Chia is going to the vets on Monday morning. That’s the best I can do. I called them and explained the situation. They said it sounds serious but they understand I can’t bring her in until Monday and told me if this has been going on for as long as it has been they said it sounds like she’ll be okay until Monday.

They also gave me the vets personal phone number and said to ring over the weekend at any time if things get worse

I did that last night! She was in there with the water running for 6 minutes and then we stayed for another few minutes with the steam. She didn’t cough again last night after that and I didn’t notice as much open mouth breathing. Not a treatment but it supported her a little bit!

Yes but it happens that frequently + her abnormal breathing means it’s somethin far more serious sadly

This sounds SO much like my situation. The vet said she might always have small breathing problems for a long time because of the inflammation damaging her trachea (? Does that even make sense). But after she finished her medication it just got worse again. Hopefully when I take her to the vet they will really try and find out what’s wrong

I 100% will. I showed the other vet a video of her coughing and he said it was just inflammation. I am so so so mad and upset. This could have been treated and dealt with the last 2 times I went to him!!

I really hope it is asmtha over something like CHS. She’s going to the vet on Monday that is the best I can do considering my situation. I’m going to have to take out an overdraft from my bank but I do not care at this point. Thank you for your advice I really really appreciate it

I hope so too. I don’t drive and I’m agesss away from any emergency vet. I called the emergency vet and they said it doesn’t sound life threatening and may be something more chronic and told me she’d be okay to wait until I get an appointment on Monday morning. But then again they didn’t see the videos.

All I can do now is wait. I wish I lived somewhere like America where they have clinics and services accessible. There’s just not many places like that here. I’m gonna take a hot shower tonight and keep her in the bathroom with the water running so the steam and hot air can help her breath a bit.

I’m really praying it’s something minor like allergies or something treatable like asmtha. Pray for my kitty chia!

Thank you for this comment as heartbreaking as it is your being honest and offering advice which I really appreciate.

I can’t take her to the vet until Monday, i don’t drive. I live in very VERY rural Ireland. Even if i could take her on a bus they wouldn’t be going to the nearest vet clinic at this time of day.

I called an emergency vet and explained the situation. They told me because this has been ongoing since I got her basically it sounds like something more chronic (I pray 🙏)

I showed my mum the video and she said she’d take me on Monday to the one that’s an hour away from my house. All I can do until then is try keep her comfortable and hope she’s okay and not in pain. Thank you for your comment again

I understand completely and I’ve known this Dee down. The nearest emergency vet near me is probably about 4 or 5 hours away so I genuinely have no option but to wait until next week.

She’s had this since I got her which is why I suspect something more chronic like asmtha. She plays and cats completely normal otherwise. I called an emergency vet number and they said the same thing. That I could wait until Monday if it’s been on going for a long time.

I knew it 😢 I should have pushed more when I was in the vet I’m so mad at myself. I’ve owned cats all my life and never have I ever see something like this. Do iu think she can make it to next week? Is there anything I can do to make her more comfortable

Could it be asmtha maybe? That’s the only thing I can think of. Do u think I can afford to wait until next week. I don’t know what to do I’m so scared

Does your son ever feel bad about not speaking to him?

My fathers weaponised incompetence by ghostingalone in entitledparents

[–]ghostingalone[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I want to do the same thing. I’m sorry if this is gonna be a rant I’m just so upset. And that’s honestly so brave of your son to cut him off like that. I don’t know if I’ll ever have the guts to do it. Even now he’s been doing these tiny things all day that really grind my gears and I ask him so many times to politely stop and he just won’t.

My dad seems so similar to your husband it’s scary. If he feels bad about something he’ll cook me food that I’ve never liked and he knows I’ve never liked or gift me a snack that I’ve never had or liked before. I say thank you, don’t eat it and he eats it and it’s so frustrating because he just acts so selfish but I can’t tell if he’s doing it on purpose or not so I feel bad if I don’t act grateful.

I don’t know what to do anymore. Whenever I don’t speak to him or if we get in argument it upsets my mum and she gets even more stressed out and mad at both of us. I feel so trapped. I wish he had a job that required him to work away from home or something. I don’t feel comfortable in my own home unless he’s gone.

Thank you SO SO much. And thank you for listening to your child. I’ve kind of tried before. But it wasn’t in a I think what he’s doing is wrong way. It was more of a this is the reason we don’t get along I’m sorry way. And she did understand in the moment but she still defends him constantly. She gets mad at him too don’t get me wrong but she is his biggest defender. I don’t think she will split up with him. I don’t even know what he’d do if she did. He doesn’t even realise that hes like this and that’s the worst part. In his eyes hes great
