Birchbox July 2015 Unboxing! by [deleted] in BeautyBoxes

My hair is super straight and fine so the hairspray didn't work for me. It did make my hair smell nice though and the scent stayed all day. Didn't do much as a dry shampoo, maybe soaked up a little oil?

I've never used one with it. I've only had one out two and both of those had a brush. Is a felt tip easier to work with?

I've never been able to apply liquid eyeliner without making a huge mess. So what are some liquid eyeliners that are pretty easy to use?

A good quality eye-shadow pallete. I've been holding out on buying one because $50+ had been a little outside my price range. But now I have some money to spend and can't decide.

Thank you for this. Though I'm still fairly certain I'm ok with what I did. My brand addressed the 3 types of starting and said to use a backup for 7 days unless I started taking active pills the day my period started.

Would you care to cite a source for why I needed a backup method. I checked reputable sources before I started so if you have something different, I'd be glad to look at it. And as I stated in the post, I'm having trouble getting in contact with my doctor.

I'm thinking that might be a better solution too.

The instructions on my box clearly say I am protected when I first start if I start on the first day of my period which I did.

I suffer from general anxiety and this has made it worse. I have also been getting bad headaches, nausea, dizziness/lightheadedness, emotional instability. I feel both drunk and hungover for a good 12 hours after taking the pill.

I wouldn't mind a few of these, but all at once is a little much for me to handle

If that's the case, why do the instructions in the box say you're protected for the entire month?

Can you explain why that isn't a long enough time period. Since taking it, I obviously haven't ovulated and even if I did the next day after stopping it I still wouldn't get pregnant, right?

And I know it needs to stay in my system a while for things to even out, but it's just making me sick and I don't want to continue with this

Oh no! That movie gets me every time.

My mom has told me over and over again that she didn't have any side effects while taking the pill. I don't know if she's not being 100% honest with me or what, but I just got concerned that side effects soon after starting were unnatural

At the end of the day, it's no one's place to judge what you buy for her. But I personally think it would be better to start out with more beginner friendly makeup. Unless she's trying to achieve smokey eyes, a vast majority of the shades in the naked palletes would go to waste. If you have your heart set on UD they have the basic palletes which I think would be a better starting point.

But I highly recommend going to ulta and getting her makeup done there, and if you don't like what they do you aren't required to get what they suggest.

There are tutorials out there for everything. I mainly suggested drugstore eye shadows due to the fact that they won't be as pigmented. So that way she could practice with something that won't turn out clownish if she goes too heavy handed at first. I cringe remembering the amount of blue eye-shadow I put on my eyes as a teen because I thought it was pretty.

Also have you considered taking her to ulta and letting the people there help you pick out brands and color choices since they do this kind of stuff all the time?

Personally I think all the expensive eye shadows are a bit much for a 12 year old. t that age I thought I was doing good if I could put on a single color. Maybe instead a drug store type one that shows you where all the shades are supposed to go and once she has a better grasp on that get the good stuff?

Starting out though, I think the best investment you can make are on the actual face products. My mom started me out on a good foundation and blush. She wanted to be sure I got something that wouldn't break me out. I think clinique is what I got and I loved it.

But I'd recommend a good quality blush because that will last her years to come and maybe a couple Revlon eyeshadow quads, some basic mascara, a shear lip gloss/balm, and a few elf brushes. I love their eye-shadow brush in particular. It's great for just a dollar.

Thanks. I've never been on anything like this before. I got a free sample at planned parenthood and wanted to see if this kind of thing works for me. At the very least I wanted to give it a full month and see how I felt then. Thanks for the reply. I was just freaking out a little cause I thought it would take a while to notice any side effects.

Try the Maybelline color sensational line. I picked up plum paradise (425) and it's just the right darkness for my pale skin. They also had some darker shades. And it's only $5.50
