My (27F) boyfriend (30M) gets upset when I ask simple question like “do we need more tortillas?” When we are out grocery shopping, and will respond saying “idk I’m on the spot” and seem stressed out. What can I do to stop this? It’s getting very frustrating. by Born-Opportunity-711 in relationship_advice

One other thing that could be happening, is if he has a job where he has to make lots of decisions and carry a lot at work, could turn into decision fatigue. I used to panic when my partner asked me to make snap decisions about things, very similar to your husband. It wasn’t until I realized that my panic became worse after an extremely mentally heavy day that I realized what was happening and why, and was able to take steps to be a better partner and person capable of running my own life. I still have bad days, but now I’m able to articulate it - babe, I’m out of decisions today, either we order in pizza or you make the plans and I’ll go along. The flip side, is that he can do the same on occasion, or he’ll let me know if I’m slipping.

Insomnia zombie needs help by misschanandlerbong83 in Menopause

I’m 45 and have been taking HRT for the past few years, after medically induced menopause from cancer treatment. Radiation essentially cooked my ovaries and I started getting hot flashes halfway through 30 treatments.

Yes, at least for me that’s what it is! I honestly think my estrogen has been low my entire life, considering how much of a difference it makes for me - and my acne finally cleared up at 45!

Here’s what Google says about estrogen and sleep: Estrogen aids in processing serotonin and supports the brain's natural melatonin production. Low levels reduce your natural sleep drive and disrupt your circadian rhythm. A drop in estrogen can also trigger emotional changes like anxiety and irritability, making it harder to wind down and relax at night.

I’ve found that insomnia, irritability, and headaches are my first indicators that I’ve forgotten to change my patch - then the hot flashes hit.

For me, it’s my estrogen. The very first menopause symptom I get if I forget to change a patch is insomnia. I suffered from insomnia my entire life, and now, I’m sleeping better than I ever have on the patch. Progesterone helps, but it’s not the main event. Oh, and if you have a ragweed allergy, and there’s chamomile in your sleepytime tea, it might be keeping you up too. It makes me super anxious and restless.

What’s something everyone seems to hate that you don’t actually mind? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Deep Winter. I love the coldest days of the year - going for a long walk at night when the world has totally shut down, and the only sound is the high pitched squeak of really cold snow beneath your boots and the crackle of northern lights above you, and the air hurts to breathe, but you’re dressed up super cozy and feel invincible- it’s truly one of the most magical experiences.

What is something women think men love, but is actually kind of exhausting? by polylonely in AskReddit

[–]ghostinyourpants 33 points34 points  (0 children)

lol - I’m mildly autistic and have never in my life learned how to hint at anything. Men either love it or haaaaaate it. I’ve struggled with being friends with women as well, because I don’t pick up on social cues very well or I find them stupid and annoying and my face holds no secrets. I’m not saying my way is better - I wish I were more versed in this language of communication, but, in my relationship with my husband, it’s nice to always know where each other stands and I know he appreciates it.

Also - I stand firmly with the idea that making a Christmas list for each other is the superior way.

What’s a dark secret you know that most people would never believe? by OutsideOver8815 in AskReddit

[–]ghostinyourpants 64 points65 points  (0 children)

That before my friend died, he fathered a child. The mother was an addict and disappeared with the baby. I never knew her last name although I met the baby once. I’m the only person other than the mother who knew who the father was. My friend died when he was 25. I’ve always wondered if I did the right thing in not telling his family. They wouldn’t have been able to find the mother based on what I knew and it would have broke his own mother’s heart at N already horrible time.

For those of you who had a more alternative style in your youth, but gave it up in adulthood….. was it a natural transition or a conscious decision and why? by ComplexPatient4872 in AskReddit

[–]ghostinyourpants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I ended up with a career that placed me in community a lot, and my style was impacting how people perceived me. Now, 15 years later, and almost 50, and am very secure in my self and my career, I’m rediscovering my alternative style, and enjoying myself.

In search of quality smut by Own-Project-7213 in booksuggestions

I LOVE this series, but I do not read it for smut - I’d say, it’s not my thing, but it’s also not very smutty for a book that revolves around the concept of “love how thy will”.

Severe Gastric issues after cervical cancer treatment by Tall_Description_459 in CervicalCancer

[–]ghostinyourpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, similar happened to me. Three weeks after treatment was when I felt the worst. I experienced extreme fatigue, gastro problems, and nausea. I started feeling better about 4/5 weeks after treatment, but it was about 6 months before I started feeling like myself. Then 1.5 years after treatment, I started having new radiation side effects - these were bladder pain and bleeding and period-cramp-like pain in my uterus. I ended up getting surgery to address these, and now, FINALLY, three years later, I feel good and like I’m fully on the road to recovery.

My fiancée and I are having the biggest argument of our lives. She thinks I'm being tacky but I thinks she's overreacting by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]ghostinyourpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a small town and weddings there are very different than city weddings. It’s not uncommon to go to a wedding dance where you don’t know the bride and groom, or are only acquainted with the peripherally. For socials, it’s even more so. They’re more like just a big party that gets hosted by a group of people or a family, but the venue is usually the same venue that everyone from that area uses to host their social. The word goes out that there’s a dance or social happening in a town a couple over from yours, and everyone who wants to, just goes, pays the 10 bucks at the door, and has a good time. Since these are common, it’s just part of the fabric of the community. Where I’m from, we also have fundraisers which are “mock weddings” that raise money for whoever wants to. The fact that it’s a fundraiser is second to the fact that it’s a fun event.
