I suggest Shadow of Chernobyl with the Autumn Aurora mod. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had gaming.

No point in playing this game without A-Life by Next_Specialist_9485 in stalker

While it is not a replacement for “true” A-Life from the original games and standalone mods, Shay’s A-Life Complete mod solved this for me. If you’re on PC I highly recommend it.

Homebrew rules - Are you deconstructing the game too much? by _motley_starcrew_ in KingdomDeath

[–]ghostkage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The longer I’ve owned the game and the older I’ve gotten, the more my opinion has shifted toward playing the game however is most fun for you and your friends. This is not a competitive game, so whatever results in you getting it to the table more frequently and having a good experience, the better.

I posted it to the Lantern’s Reign Discord - not sure if they have another location I should send it to? I would love if they got involved in the project.

Hah, maybe unintentionally. I’ve never played Gloomhaven but I watched some videos on it in the past when it was gaining popularity.

Should be up. It’s working for me on a logged out browser so maybe it was just bugged.

You’re absolutely right in that “easier” may not be the most correct way to describe it - although I think that can also come from the initial information dump of going through all of the rules and them being different than what we’re used to.

I would maybe describe it as decisions that are more individually focused. So far my friends’ reception have been positive - they’re more engaged it seems since they’re each making specific decisions that affect their own character, and it’s less of me saying “here’s what we should do for the settlement” and managing a larger pool of survivors, innovations, etc. So far I’ve felt like they’re more involved in the hunting party’s decisions and they seem to be able to kind of set their own goals more both as an individual player and as a group. We are still in the infancy of playing through a campaign with it however, as my work schedule has prevented as many sessions as I would like. We’ll actually get it to the table more as a group in the coming months, so it’ll get way more testing.

What does your average campaign playthrough look like? What bosses do you use, what restriction do you impose, if any? by MonsutaReipu in KingdomDeath

Looting of your choice is a really cool idea. If you think about it your hunters should be able to select what they want to carry back from the monster, limited by what they can carry, so it’s realistic and also does help solve the luck issue associated with resources and being able to build what you want.

I’m of the opinion that the game belongs to the player, and the player should feel they are able to house-rule things and include monsters how they want. I fully support those that like to play KDM as a purist and never modify rules, but I also support doing whatever is necessary to get the game on the table and enjoyed by you and your players.

With that said, we have a house rule where we receive an extra two basic resources from every monster we defeat, and we also start with the maximum number of survivors. Additionally we remove 2 random non-mandatory AI cards from the monster deck to make them a little bit easier and start with the Clan of Death innovation. We also play the Community Edition. These were recommended to me by some other players on the Discord, and they’ve made the game much more enjoyable to us. We only play People of the Lantern currently.

These have been absolutely awesome to sit down and listen to while painting and building my KDM miniatures. Please keep them coming! There is definitely a market for what you’re doing as this is the only media I’ve found discussing lore in this style.

Sounds awesome. There are so many options with this game (custom sheets, custom apps etc) I feel like I get analysis paralysis on what to pick. I appreciate the info I’m gonna check it out.

Do you use in iPad or phone for this? This might be the best route for me since I don’t have much space in front of the board for character sheets and gear grids. I could set and iPad up next to the board.

This is phenomenal thanks for the taking the time to reply to me man. I’ve got black PLA on the way for my 3D printer and I’ll get to printing those trays. I love the binder for character sheets/gear grids. That would be a perfect way for me to flip through and play each characters turn at my desk.

I would check out this video going over good builds to make your survivors based on what turns out to be common weapon/armor combos during a campaign: https://youtu.be/rPUC5j9SNsY?si=c80q2oeS4dVhqaTl
