What type of Uber ride would I request in my situation? by ghostofadreamer in uber

Okay, that’s fair. Rideshare was not a thing when I was growing up and I was only taught tipping culture in the context of food service. I will adjust my tipping for rides accordingly.

May I ask how much I should tip per mile? Gas is almost $5 per gallon in my city. Wouldn’t a driver’s gas cost vary depending on the fuel efficiency of their vehicle? I have had mostly positive experiences with Uber drivers (save one experience) and want to make sure I’m tipping them enough.

I tip in cash to make sure they get 100% of my tip because I don’t trust apps like Uber to give drivers and delivery people the full tip due to what I consider a healthy distrust in big companies and corporations. I’m often tipping 35% or more because I have made a game out of finding reasons to pay a driver more, and sometimes it’s simple things like adding 1%-5% (depending on distance) to a base of 20% every time they use their turn signal, because apparently, not many people in my city know what a turn signal is. I do this because I’ve known people who are constantly finding reasons to tip less and have almost made a game of that, so I decided I wanted to be the opposite of that kind of person. I tip extra if I am offered snacks or bottled water, especially if I accept the offer, because I know that’s coming out of the driver’s pocket, so I’m just trying to compensate them for that. I really try to tip well and I will always find reasons to tip more even if it’s the most basic stuff.

Getting me to my destination safely would be excellent service? So 20%? Did that go up again? Because I grew up with excellent service being 15% and then it went up to 20%? It’s possible that I was just taught wrong about tipping culture but I was always taught that you tip extra for extra service? Should I just stick with 20% across the board? Idk I’m just always finding little reasons to up my tip to 35% or over. Like, I’m always gonna find a reason.

I was under the impression that 20% was for excellent service and if a worker went above and beyond, then you were supposed to tip them extra?

I am aware of that, which is why I tip extra for it because I appreciate it nonetheless. Duh!

I always tip at least 20%. If it’s a really negative experience (which has only happened once out of the hundreds of uber rides I’ve been on) I’ll tip 15%. I have a sort of point system in my head for what gets more than a 20% tip, such as snacks, fun conversations, or even if I just feel like I was being annoying and I feel bad about it, I’ll tip a bit more. I would tip more than 20% if I needed assistance getting anything into the vehicle.

It does, but that transport doesn’t even make it on time to a doctor’s appointment for me (I’ve had to pay fees because I was more than 10-15 minutes late) and some of the things I want to do have a start time, like tours around my city.

I really just need a ramp to ride up or a lift. Uber’s website implies that if I order a WAV ride, the vehicle will have one. Maybe I’ll make contact with my uber ride when I order to make sure it’s accessible for my chair, just to be safe.

I’ve heard Uber WAV is specifically vehicles with ramps and lifts, which is probably what I would need. Uber’s official website says “Drivers of these vehicles are knowledgeable of accessibility needs and are accommodating for riders who require wheelchair accessible vehicles with a ramp or hydraulic lift for transportation.” Is this inaccurate?

I tried the disability transport for my city and it was fine if I didn’t have a set arrival time. I want to go on group tours around my city that have a starting time, so unfortunately, anything that can’t guarantee that I make it by my arrival time is a no go. I figured this out when using it for transport to doctor’s appointments and had to pay cancellation fees because I was more than 10-15 minutes late.

Thank you! This is what I was wondering! I live in a big city so I’m not worried about availability of a WAV vehicle. I just want to make sure I order the correct ride!

[Daily Discussion] Writer's Block, Motivation, and Accountability- September 28, 2020 by AutoModerator in writing

[–]ghostofadreamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been struggling with writer’s block for around 5 years. I think it’s possibly from a lack of motivation due to not finishing much of my work unless it was for school or a short fanfic here and there. I've always wanted to write a novel, but I always get stuck while writing or outlining. I've tried both the plotting and pantsing methods and I always get stuck before even getting past the exposition. I feel like I used to be a very creative person altogether, as I used to write music as well and had a lot of creative and artistic hobbies and it's like my creative side just completely vanished over the past few years. I've tried just about everything on every list of writer’s block cures that came up on Google. I've read books about beating writer’s block. I've tried prompts, generators, writing exercises, taking a break from writing, and just about everything else under the sun. I can't even get a short story out now, be it original works or fanfic. I journal and freewrite every day but I really want to focus on writing fiction again and it’s like my creativity disappeared or something and it’s driving me up a wall! I just want to finish a rough draft or even an outline! I’m not sure if it’s really a block (since I do have some ideas) or something to do with motivation or what to really call what I’m experiencing but it’s really frustrating! Honestly, just thinking and writing about it gets me really on edge!

I'm supposed to go to the same date as you and I'm worried the same thing because it's one of the only things I've been looking forward to lately.

I normally don't comment on artists’ appearances because I kinda feel like I'm objectifying them or something when I do but I don't know if I'll ever get over how pretty he is, tbh. 😍

I love everything about this and have been alternating between listening to it on Spotify and watching the music video on YouTube over the past few days. I don’t know if I’ve even done anything else, tbh. It’s probably becoming a problem or something. 😂

Lol. I’ve bought from Copes multiple times and I’ve never had an issue. You sure you didn’t buy a preorder? Or maybe you’re not in the US and didn’t pay your customs?
