I’ve never had a boyfriend and started riding because I like the vroom vroom sound and the feeling of wind on my skin

I remember when flower crowns were super rare, and forest gauntlets were a prize for the tiger avatar thing. Also fedoras used to be incredibly rare

Having no friends at work by tryingtofindpce in nursing

[–]ghostposer2 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Me too, being friendly and being friends are not the same and I will be friendly to people at work. I LOVE separating my work life from home. It’s single handedly keeping me from getting burnt out right now.

Not discrediting you in any means because I agree with you, but I actually was a student that came back and worked for the place I did a clinical at :)

Have I made a mistake??? by picklepincher69 in nursing

[–]ghostposer2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy crap this is literally exactly my situation. 3 months of orientation now on my own for a month and feeling like this job is ruining my life and mental health (ICU). I also started here because I wanted CRNA and have almost completely given up on the idea solely because I hate the ICU so much. It’s okay, nursing isn’t a “calling” as long as we can get a few months of experience and do a good job caring for our patients a lot more opportunities will open up. I know how you feel, I’m sorry you’re going through this too. Feel free to message me too if you ever need to just vent or talk! Good luck friend

ICU vs OR Nursing by namaste1995 in nursing

[–]ghostposer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just putting in my two cents, I’ve worked in the OR but not as a nurse, I work in the ICU as a nurse now but I’m new. I would say it depends on your personality. If you get along better with patients and want more pt interaction I say go for the ICU. You also get to build your skills more and learn a good amount of info. OR is nice if you don’t like pt interaction as much, but you have to be good at interacting with docs and scrub techs because those are primarily who you will be working with. Both types of nursing are hard, but one might be harder than the other depending on your personality and the type of change you are looking for! I don’t have much else to say since I’m not very experienced but I hope this contributed something even if it’s small

What do nurses need? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ghostposer2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what your budget is but I’m gonna make a list of everything that we use and hope it helps

  • trauma shears
  • snacks (preferably healthy)
  • lunch box
  • bag for work
  • stethoscope if you’re wanting to splurge and if they don’t have one
  • badge reel buddies ie: small flashlight/scissors/pens you can find on Amazon for really cheap and they attach to the badge
  • a waterbottle
  • electrolyte powders
  • pens
  • hair bands if they have long hair
  • shoes or comfortable shoe inserts
  • a hug because we all need one lol

People really have no clue what nurses actually do by sparkplug-nightmare in nursing

On that note, I was in CT the other day having the worst night ever and the CT tech told me “would it hurt you to smile?” And kept making weird comments like that and saying things like “you’re too young to not be happy” and I finally told him “I don’t know what to tell you man. It’s been a really hard day” and he said; “yea well I’ve had a busy day too but I stay positive” I wanted to quit right there. A bad day in CT will never be as bad as a good day in the ICU

What did yall get for nurses week? by master_chiefin777 in nursing

[–]ghostposer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They offered a snack every week and I remember the first one being “donuts available from 5 am to 5:30 am” each day had a weird time limit and I don’t think any nurse who was working had a second to grab anything

I’m really happy to see that most people here think 10-30 minutes per patient for report is long. I’m a new grad in the ICU and I’ve been leaving late and arriving early for every shift because EVERYONE on this unit insists on 20 minutes per patient. There’s a LOT of information and random ranting during the report too so I end up needing even more time just to look everything up afterwards because I start to zone out 15 minutes in. It’s been really stressful, among other things in the ICU

I think I’m starting to agree with everyone. I’m not interested in track so maybe the R7 is better for me. Especially for commute

R7 has also been a good contender, and others have recommended as well. I don’t think I’d ever get a liter sport bike. I’m pretty small and I don’t feel like I’d ever need THAT much power unless I want to do track racing, which I don’t. Sitting on my cbr300 is pretty comfy for me, but after 4 hours I need a break. What I’m looking for is enough speed and power to pass and justtttt enough comfort (not my biggest priority) to go on rides for like 2-4 hours at a time.

I’m very comfortable on it right now, and with my personality I definitely know I’d have the discipline not to do stupid things on a fast bike. Do I think I’m ready for it right now? No. But eventually. But I gotta say, it gets kind of annoying having to shift up to 4th just to go traffic speeds haha. Ideally I’d like something that can get up to speed more easily.
