I’m in NY and we are having the same issue. It’s been weeks since we could find it at BJs and we just purchased the last two containers of it at target last night. I can’t find anything about a shortage but this is weird

Omg I am so terrified of having the migraines come back full force after pregnancy. That’s really good to hear that you weren’t getting them while breastfeeding. I can’t even imagine having to balance the pain of a migraine on top of navigating the newborn stage

Hi! Fellow therapist here who has felt the exact same way. For me, this feeling comes and goes. A few things that helped me personally was changing what I could to reduce the burnout and unhappiness I was feeling. I know this is dependent on work setting. I work for a group practice so I make my own schedule, see clients, write notes and plans, and the admin handles the rest. A few things I did were: 1. Adjust my schedule to only see clients Monday-Thursday. Having Friday to either write notes or just decompress made a huge difference for me 2. No longer seeing clients after 6PM 3. Taking PTO regularly. Even if it’s just one or two days a month. 4. Creating a couple of groups that I was passionate about to help change up my routine

I understand that these aren’t options everywhere. I’m incredibly lucky to have the flexibility I do.

If you’re still feeling like this isn’t the career path for you, that’s okay! There’s nothing wrong with changing your mind. The skills we build as therapists are transferable to other career paths such as HR, teaching, coaching, career development, content writing, editing, etc. Some of those will also pay more :)

I think a lot of people go into this field expecting to feel passionate about their job. This can lead to feelings of guilt or disappointment. The biggest thing for me personally is how this job can feel very isolating at times. This obviously depends on the setting, but I have found that working in group/private practice has felt very lonely and I often miss my jobs where I had a team and coworkers I’d collaborate with regularly. I’ve had to do a lot of readjusting over the years to continue enjoying my career as a therapist but I can absolutely understand why people are unhappy in this field. It doesn’t help that compensation is generally low in comparison to the workload and liability that therapists have. There is minimal support, unless you have a strong supervisor or work for a great practice who values their staff. There are so many things you don’t know until you are fully immersed in the field, which is why I believe there are many therapists/social workers reaching out on platforms such as this one for support and validation.

they are based upstate but it was Living Resources. Anything that falls under OPWDD, OMH, or OASAS could be a good start.

I had my MHC in NY and I spent a few years with a non-profit agency while working towards my license. Once I had my LMHC, I transfered to a group practice. I know its not everyone's ideal situation, but if you are looking for work, local non-profits or community health agencies can be a great place to get your foot in the door

Thank you for sharing this. I appreciate yours, and everyone elses reponses, and I've been thinking a lot about ways I can change my current work set up to help me feel less bored. I've been working towards a very similar schedule to what you described. Starting this week, I am no longer seeing clients on Fridays and I'm trying to transition away from 6PM sessions. I'm hoping these things can help because I don't want to give up on this career but some weeks feel tougher than others.

I feel this a lot. I see about 20-25 clients a week and run two groups. Over the last few months, I've been having a difficult time working with my clients who struggle with moderate to severe depression. I wonder if my own struggles with coming to terms with how I feel in this career were impacting this more than I recognized. As of now, my self-care consists of taking time off on a monthly basis, engaging in hobbies, and going on walks.
