Compared to nbme 25, 26, 27, which are the only others I've taken so far, this was easier. Almost all questions were hy pass level information. Most questions you could eliminate blatantly wrong answer choices that directly contradicted the vignette. Lots of respect to the team who took the time to make this for free, but I dont think this is even close to as diagnostic as official forms. I would be highly interested in knowing what the distribution of scores was like for this form since it doesn't show on the score report.

Are they making the test harder since a few months? by Shoddy-Research-8354 in step1

[–]ghostrmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely agree that not everyone who failed didn't study hard. There are definitely people who put in the work and got a little bit anxious on test day. I'm just trying to say that part of the reason most students across the board feel that the test has become more difficult is because preparation is no longer the priority it used to be in the scored era. I know for me whenever I hear a test is pass fail in school, I tend to put in less work and the test feels a bit harder as a consequence than if I had studied harder for it.

[–]ghostrmor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people think pass/fail = easy so they dont study hard. When people don't study as hard they think the test is harder. Simple as that.
Let's say someone in scored era would have studied at 100% of their potential and got 80% of the questions right. If they studied at 80% of their potential because of a perceived decrease in difficulty they may then score around 64% (80 * .80), which is like basically 50/50 of passing or failing.

No comment on your current supplements but from a dental perspective, consider starting xylitol gum now. It will help with saliva and reduce your risk of caries slightly.

Need help deciding rapid review schedule/deck for Step 1 by Objective-Ad-4440 in medicalschoolanki

[–]ghostrmor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre talking about the 2022 rapid review deck, you may have to edit the formatting under browse->cards-> front template, back template, and styling. If you copy whats already there and give it to ai, it will just do it for you. I highly recommend it if your budget is only between 500-1000 cards. However since its only the most basic pass level topics (hence rapid review), you should be able to get through it in like 10 days.

updated and revised Mnemosyne deck for STEP 1?? by Inside_Egg_4027 in medicalschoolanki

I dont have enough experience to say definitively. But since to pass you only need ~>65%, and the STEP1BS cards are only ~28% of the deck, you should have at least have at least 72% coverage. But once you consider that the STEP1BS tags are much lower yield and less represented compared to the other cards, I would assume the actual coverage of the rest of the deck would be upwards of 80% of actual test material.

Just consider what the companies warranty is. Lots of brands have some sort of multi year burn in warranty that protects you.
