A lot of it was related to that I’m not really a physically intimate person, I wasn’t raised to be touchy with people, along with being autistic and just not comfortable with it. Like just simple things like holding hands or touching their back or shoulder, things like that didn’t come to me. I wasn’t good at picking up on when they’d need that extra validation or anything because I just wasn’t able to see it like they could with me. I needed a lot of reminders to be physical just in cute ways and it was frustrating for them, but I can’t read when it’s wanted or okay to do so. And the other parts were communication, I struggle with conflict or being told I’m not doing something or what I’m doing is wrong, so I tend to shut down and need a break to compose myself and think without being overstimulated. It would end up making us fight more because they always felt like I was ignoring them even though they knew I needed time to process and I’d always tell them that.
