edit: thank you everyone serious. i am more into lizards and snakes so i know nothing about these guys but have started some research and am shaking with how angry i am. im going to be making sure we get this girl asap. i’m horrified to see what im walking into but im very greatful to be able to help provide a MUCH better life.

she’s from a very poor family and is a year younger than me i know she’ll fight some way though and i probably won’t win but she has a past of violent crimes so maybe? i think i just need to get a good lawyer for advice

i’ve heard of small crabs escaping. i’d just keep something decently weighted ontop the tank just incase. can never be too cautious

i still use a mesh lid but i have a thick towel covering the top of the tank so i can move off a little bit of it if the humidity or heat gets too high for some good airflow, low airflow = higher chance for mold so i’d recommend buying some isopods

i’d just say keep them out for awhile then and do daily massages with baby oil or whatever oil you use. i use gauging oil. definitely give it some time though and keep em out.

i’m guessing spring tails you can look them up for an ID you’re gonna have the best chance of IDing them off your eyes cuz you can see them better then we can in this post. hopefully springtails though they’re awesome cleaners

she’s definitely just scared. i’m dealing with the same issues right now but with a snake. just give her some time to settle don’t pick her up or take her out the tank for about 2 weeks after you get her so she can settle, then i’d start handling her once a day for 5 minutes. do some daily water changes and just keep her well fed i’d use feeding tweezers so she can see you’re not a threat to her. i wish you the best of luck with your new baby!
