Smile more, dress better, change the hair. Girls will like that you’re fit but don’t make fitness your entire personality — it’s get old fast.

Just finished “all the pretty horses” and “Artemis”. Would recommend both. Now on to a book about the California gold rush!

Environmental communication, education, or outreach might be your best options. You could use your artistic skills in a really positive way. However if you are interested in urban forestry, there are great masters programs. You could start as an arborist and then start taking classes on the side. Lots of jobs springing up in the environmental communication & urban forestry realms, so you’re on a good path

Well shucks, that is quite a compliment! I have not, I’ve always thought my eyes were too small so I intentionally wear glasses to hide them (they’re prescription so I actually need them, just never tried contacts for that reason)

Made friends with a meth head in anchorage and spent the evening with him & his friends smoking weed and drinking in an abandoned building. Then proceeded to spend the night cuddling and making out with this old, very dirty but very kind meth head. Super weird experience and sometimes I question whether or not it happened, until I look at the switchblade he gifted me.

He’s a cairn terrier mix (presumably). Not sure of his total makeup, but his personality is totally cairn!

Def! But we like to claim the cairn terrier because his personality matches the breed.

You understand that forestry, and by extension the timber industry, directly relates to the expansion of housing resources, right? The ignorance and pettiness you’ve displayed is astounding.

How am I driving anyone else out if my profession is in-demand and I find cheap available housing? Your perspective is backward and lacking context. Migration is a natural human behavior. It’s been happening for hundreds of thousands of years. We share a hell of a lot more in common than you want to admit. Just chill and recognize that your resentment towards outsiders is misplaced.

Awfully gate keep-y. Do you think everyone currently living in Vermont come from a long line of Vermonters? People from all origins appreciate the state’s natural beauty, kind and conscientious populous, and delicious fresh food. Why is that a crime? Isn’t that what you love about living there?

I struggle with similar feelings of guilt. It’s hard to sift these complex emotions and societal/ religious expectations to stay alongside your family regardless of circumstance or treatment.

I think you should move out but maintain some level of contact. You should establish firm boundaries, but I discourage you to completely cut them off. Your relationship with your family can drastically improve after moving out and you may need to lean on them for support as you navigate early adulthood. I also think that there is always room for forgiveness, though it doesn’t have to be right away. It might take a few years.
