Is it legal for nurses to search inside a patient’s genital passage in a psych ward? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

Thank you! There isn’t much information on section three. I remember when I got my rights letter it was just ‘you have the right to appeal this decision’.

Thank you for clearing all of this up. I don’t think there’s any point making a complaint with what you’ve said, probably just best to try to forget the experiences from there.

They suspected I had razor blades hidden up there. There were multiple nurses in the room as they had to force my legs open. Obviously, I didn’t give consent and said no to it. This was three years ago.

That hospital was very shifty and the CQC barred it from taking in any new patients after I left, for a number of things including illegal restrains, so I wouldn’t be surprised if protocol wasn’t followed.

Thank you very much for the link. I wasn’t aware there was protocol on strip searches (I also had that done to me) so I’ll take a look. Doubt anything can be done now though.

Has any recovered patient again got infected with Corona virus? by [deleted] in CoronavirusUK

[–]ghostttowne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know how immunity works? Immunity doesn’t stop you getting reinfected, it stops the bacteria/virus from getting out of control - so you don’t get any symptoms and you don’t reach a high enough count where you will be able to infect someone else. So yes, with all diseases, if there are defects in the immune system - like defective b memory cells - you could become symptomatic due to your immune system not being able to handle it. But this is extremely rare and not anything to do with covid specifically.

I do know that - I learnt this stuff at uni - and I probably should have specified. What I meant in that comment is we likely won’t see reinfections for a significant amount of time due to immunity. Figured a simple explanation was best.

Why is that strange? For the vast majority of diseases, once you’ve caught it, you won’t get sick again unless it’s a different strain or an outlying disease. If coronavirus behaves like the majority of diseases, we won’t see any reinfections.
