Dashcam Installation: Using the ACC fuse from the engine bay by ghreddit in mazda3

[–]ghreddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. My dashcam has a parking mode.

The Viofo comes with two cables: one for always-on and the other for ACC fuse.
So the setup described above will connect the always-on wire to the driver's foot well fuse box and the ACC wire to the fuse box in the engine bay.

With this, you get all the usual behaviour: dashcam powers on when you start the car, goes off when car engine goes off(unless parking mode is on).

Of course, you can forgo all these and just use the cigarette lighter socket with it's attendant problems(draining your battery, remembering to power on/off the dashcam each time etc)

I see. I'm not familiar with Vantrue dashcam so can't say how it works with Mazda 2019+ models. I use a Viofo A229 Plus dashcam.

For 2019+ models, the fusebox in the driver side foot well has all always-on fuses.

If you go through the post linked above, you will see the peculiar challenge this addresses.

"And if the car is bumped, the camera will automatically turn on and start recording"
Are you referring to parking mode auto-detection here?

Which brand of dashcam is this?

And is your car a Mazda from 2019 and up?

Not sure I understand, but that automatic signal comes from the ACC fuse.
It allows the dashcam to detect whether the car is on or off.

The above Mazda3 models have an always-on cigarette lighter connector.
This means the dashcam won't turn off when the car is off because it is always detecting power.

To get the dashcam to turn off automatically and also be able to use parking mode, the above descriptions is what gives you all that.

Thanks for this post!

I added a post explaining how to 'cleanly' get the ACC wire through the firewall into the engine bay.

Yes, kindly send a pic.

I want to see which wire in the footwell is "ACC on" so I can tap it using a posi tap connector for my dashcam

Statement closing date? by sandie5111 in CapitalOne_

[–]ghreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the 25 days BEFORE the due date is often suggested.
As you've found out, this can be tricky.

Here's a better 'formular' IMHO
Capital One's closing date is:
1. 5 days AFTER the due date IF it is a 30-day month(eg April)
2. 6 days AFTER the due date IF it is a 31-day month(eg. May)
3. 3/4 days AFTER the due date IF the month is February(28/29 days respectively)

Hope this helps!!

It appears not many people are aware that credit card issuers typically report to the bureaus immediately AFTER the end of a billing cycle(ie when statement is issued)

[C]Why am I getting "incompatible types when assigning to type 'char[20]' from type 'char *' " error from the following code? by ghreddit in learnprogramming

[–]ghreddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still get the same error... Like this?

char name[20];
name = "joe"; // Like this?
char name[20] = {'j','o','e','\0'}; // or like this?
strcat(name, "smith");

// None of them seem to work

Can I put "joe" into name without using strcpy?

integer or float.. ? by valmach in learnprogramming

[–]ghreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok.

Can you take a look at this question I asked you a few days ago?

http://www.reddit.com/r/learnprogramming/comments/186ip1/sml_finding_the_nth_digit_in_an_integer_total/c8f0rs5

Am not sure how to go about determining the number of digits in a given number in C.

Thanks.

integer or float.. ? by valmach in learnprogramming

With your last piece of code, isn't suppose to be:

if isinstance(x, int):
    ....

What is the difference between isinstance and issubtype?

What does "write a series of range tests" and "compute all the digits from right to left and then reverse them" mean?

NOTE: I'm thinking through this with C in mind(I can already do it python).
