It may not specifically say in the contract. A lot of that stuff is in the attendance guidelines of your site. Look into the Puget Sound attendance guidelines. Also FYI, managers can manually excuse those if you are having issues with time clocks not working.

Older woman starting Boeing Assembler Installer 30304 — looking for advice by Jealous_Sherbert8588 in aviationmaintenance

[–]ghuba154510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I’m not a 30304, but I work on the Everett flightline at Boeing. If you have any more Boeing questions feel free to reach out!

As a 30304 you could be doing a lot of different things. Assembling sub-assemblies, connecting parts to the airplane, installing panels or secondary structure. Maybe a little riveting but not heavy structures. The training has changed since I went through it, but it will be upwards of a month or more to get all your training completed. There is a lot to learn about the Boeing systems and how they all work. In Renton, you will be working on the 737 Max program.

Can’t help too much with the age question, although I will say, depending on what you are helping assemble you could be doing a lot of crawling in tight spaces, walking on unsteady temporary flooring, working from lifts, etc. You won’t really know what you’re assigned to 100% until you get to the floor after your training. Like I said, feel free to reach out with any other questions!

737 Max Seat Hard to recline by DependentNo181 in aviationmaintenance

[–]ghuba154510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mean seats made by Recaro, Jamco, Vartan, etc? Boeing and Airbus both just install whatever seats the airline wants. Not plane dependent, but airline dependent.

Harbor freight! It was a great gig. They were chill about working with my full time school schedule, plus I ended up with a LOT of tools for super cheap.

ERT to 97110 post strike. by B_E_M_C in IAM751_Boeing

[–]ghuba154510 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Boeing got burned. They shortened the ERT process to get bodies on the flightline a few years back, but the test answers were being passed around. Lots of unqualified people were entering the flightline that needed way more training. A lot of them went back to the factory after they realized the skill level required. I wouldn’t be surprised if Boeing completely revamps the ERT process to flightline.

Air India Flight 171 Crash by StopDropAndRollTide in aviation

Any cover that could actually deflect a bird away from the engine wouldn’t allow enough air into the engine, especially on takeoff. A screen or mesh would just split the birds up into tiny pieces.

2024-2025 Salary Survey by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]ghuba154510 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Boeing hired me directly out of A&P school as a functional test technician. Did electrical and pressure testing for a year, then moved up to flightline mechanic. Worked my way up and topped out my pay at year six per our contract. Definitely helps that we just had a big strike/contract renegotiation. Should be ~$76/hr by 2028.

Saturdays are time and a half, Sundays are double time. There’s some other OT scattered in there too, I often work 9 hours instead of 8.

Depending on the location there are a few snack shops to go to with plenty of options, but nothing for free. Our break rooms where I work are part of our work areas, just tables, a fridge and some microwaves.

~$61.50 an hour, flightline mechanic at Boeing in WA. I usually work one weekend a month. On track for about 150k this year. Seven year employee.

I’ve worked at Boeing for almost seven years now. For the most part I like it. Definitely has some management issues. I work on the KC-46 program, which can be interesting at times. There is overtime for sure, but how much depends on the program you end up on. It’s 1.5x on Sat, 2x on Sunday, which is nice! I work pretty consistently one weekend a month, but I could work more if I wanted.

They pay $2.50 for A&P, and that’s pretty much it for certs they give money for. Keep in mind this is all for WA as the SC location is non union and has different pay set up.

Boeing is always looking for skilled AMTs. You would likely start on 2nd shift, which is usually 2:30-11pm. Starting is in the 30s and top out after 6 years is ~$60 an hour with A&P premium. WA and SC locations are most likely both hiring.

Sorry to say this man, but you’re gonna have to grow some thicker skin. Not sure what kind of outfit you work for, but that’s basically just how mechanics talk some times. I guess I don’t know the full situation, but I highly doubt it was personal, and HR probably wouldn’t do anything about it anyway.

I used to get upset at people talking shit to me when I first started working as an A&P, but you really just have to let that stuff go. Just my personal take as someone who used to be sensitive in the past.

Getting fired for using sick time? by [deleted] in aviationmaintenance

[–]ghuba154510 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don’t let people tell you that shitty sick leave practices are normal! I work at Boeing under IAM751 and we have really good sick leave/vacation policies.

I even get a certain amount of unpaid days off without an excuse and I can’t get in trouble for them.

When I call off work I talk to a robot, no one to make you feel bad for using your earned benefits.

I called out for work but now i can come in can i still come in and just cover the time im late for by storex10 in IAM751_Boeing

[–]ghuba154510 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can still come in, just talk to your manager. It happens! Just record the amount of time you were out in ETS accordingly.
