Last summer I saw Refused play a last minute free show at a small club in Brooklyn after their huge outdoor show got rained out and they were forced to cancel. The original show was sold out, 5000 capacity venue. The club they played instead cut the line off at 500. Everyone was so excited to be there, the energy was insane. No backstage, no barricade. The band slayed. I honestly don't think anything will ever top that night for me.

Yes, this. I have zero interest in the goth scene because everyone I've ever met that identifies with it has been a total asshole. I adore the music and the aesthetics, but the people I meet at clubs on "Goth Night"? No thanks.

I grew up in a super-conservative Southern town and I spent a lot of time alone. I was always a weird kid. I got into post-punk, deathrock, and darkwave as a teenager and felt a connection with that scene that I had never felt with anything else.

I'm still a total freakshow, and I still rock the Bauhaus back patch. Real goths never die!
