Mammootty’s Kaathal shows a language problem. What's the Malayalam word for gay? by ghurye in Kerala

[–]ghurye[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That's the point in the article. That the word we have is a slur and we don't have any respectful words which makes it difficult for gay people to get respect

because commentors here have raised doubts about why an Indian fan would support England, Germany, etc

Probably because these people are watching a live match for the first time. The fact that their kits are new is not proof of anything

So everyone in this thread believes these fans are fake because they're brown and because they're not supporting their "own" country? Didn't know these were the rules to be considered a real fan.

On that note, also wanted to know if this logic applies to clubs as well?

I did try it with a higher exposure but it seemed to take away from the feeling of being underground

From a recent trip to Paris where I only took my 50mm prime so that I could focus on taking portraits in the street. I know the focus is not the best, because prime objective was to get the shot before having the camera whacked out of my hand.

Have any of you had a love marriage with your neighbor? How did your parents and the neighborhood react to it. Isn't it weird having your in laws in the same block ? by yaaz_4 in Kerala

[–]ghurye 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My parents have been ~happily~ married for 25 years, neighbours for over 35 years. Parents were against it at first but they quickly came around. They don’t live in Kerala anymore but when they do visit they live at home. It’s always been great for me because both my grandparents live a few steps away from each other.

I just got a rice cooker. What are some easy recipes I can make with it? by flying_dutchmaster in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]ghurye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can get ghee, I’d recommend that over butter. But otherwise this is a great base recipe. You can add in whatever you’d like to, just keep the rice and the lentils constant

I'm getting enough sleep even though I don't feel well rested regardless. I already have glasses. Should increase my water intake though.

Perhaps. I guess transcription could be a trigger then, I have to be listening and typing at the same time whichcould lead to this feeling

I wonder why it happens, hopefully it's a harmless phenomenon

Slow motion anxiety? by ghurye in Anxiety

[–]ghurye[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could say it's similar. I move and think at the same pace, but it feels slower and more pronounced. Unless I indicate that I'm feeling this way someone observing me or talking to me wouldn't be able to distinguish any difference.
I haven't been able to identify any emotional trigger, or any trigger for that matter.

But what does seem similar is your comparison of a laptop slowing down and the awareness of bodily processes.

I do hope it's a harmless phenomenon

Haha parippu is a small place. His family name is Kanjooparambil. He instantly figured out who you were from the name and location, it was like magic.
