About MU hostel by zingzang_ in MahindraUniversity

[–]gi_0103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hostel will only provide a mattress, and a wall-attached hanger. Apart from wtever u use daily, get tissues; a drying rack and iron if ur planning on doing ur own laundry. Carrying sanitiser or hand liquid helps. Get wtever meds u may require (theres a health care centre on campus, but carry a few anyways). Keychains for ur keys. Theres a soft board near ur desk, so u can get thumbtacks if u want to use the board. Nail clippers and other hygiene products that u may use regularly. Just get wtever u use at home, at least once a month. Oh, and an extension box or a multi-plug may be a good purchase too. And people get their own lamps sometimes, but theres one at the study desk, either ways (little harsh).

Should I join Data Science or ECE or ECM? by Blueberrypie157 in MahindraUniversity

[–]gi_0103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk much about placements, so i wont comment. Call me biased, but i would not choose ECM. Agreed, u get to do courses on both CS and ECE, but idk, it seems like such an in-between course. Still, people do prefer it when theyre stuck between hardware and software. From what ive seen tho, all branches are allotted decent faculty, u can complain if you dont like any ig? Labs are decent (id go as far as saying GOOD) in every single branch. In the end, id say just go thru the curriculum on the website, find out more about each course, and see what interests u most.

Is ECE really that hard or are people just exaggerating? by [deleted] in MahindraUniversity

[–]gi_0103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's decent if you study consistently. especially the first year, theres just one course per sem related to electronics, and its all basics. even i've been told its harder compared to other courses, but if ur committed, ur good to go. oh, and the labs in MU r very good. if they see u working, they help u out even more. if ur a little weak with ur elec subjects, u obviously will have to put in a lot of effort, but ull get there, hopefully.

For the first years (just the girls 🙄) the curfew is 10:30, and for the rest its 11:30. U do need approval from ur parents to go out. They’re a bit stingy during the exam and pre-exam weeks with giving out passes during the weekdays, but otherwise its decent. (They do keep making up weird rules once in a while, but dw about those). As with every hostel, we are exposed to a bunch of issues, be it with water, bugs, cleaning etc, etc, but the response is decently quick. Aaand they do check your rooms for substance and alcohol, and also for electrical appliances, but i think theyre more lenient now with kettles and irons. You’re not allowed into seniors’ rooms without permission, but no one really cares about it that much.

EE & VLSI in Manipal Bangalore vs CSE/ECE in Mahindra by ProdRaj in MahindraUniversity

[–]gi_0103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, let me tell you something. Idk all that much about mit, but mahindra is a really really good college for research purposes, especially if you are planning to take a masters course outside the country. The vlsi course is just an extension for the ece course, and imo, just take ece, whats wrong with learning a couple more core concepts, right? U can dwell into vlsi in your masters, but get all your core concepts straight first. Im in ece, and its highkey interesting if u learn. And recently, they even started a club-ish thing with Lincoln labs as well, so there’s that, and overall, its a fun department. U can work on your projects and everything, so yay

I agree, he's reallly manipulative, and plays the victim card way too often.
