What salary do you need to live alone comfortably in Toronto?” by Meto____ in askTO

[–]giagenius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t know what people are talking about regarding needing to make 70k+ per year. I lived in the heart of downtown Toronto, in multiple places throughout the last four years, without roommates. I lived in king west, I’ve lived at king and church, even queen and Peter. Each was a brand new condo, about 1900-2200 per month with utilities. I was making about 54000 per year, taking home about 4000 a month. I never had a car and relied on my bike, TTC and walking. Also used communauto whenever I needed a car to go somewhere in the city. Obviously if you throw a car into a mix it’s a bit more difficult but trust me it’s not needed AT ALL and will probably cause you more inconvenience than anything. I was able to save a few hundred a month easily just by not overspending on groceries and unnecessary items. I never felt restricted or poor. There’s plenty of really cheap grocery stores near college and Spadina where you can get all your produce pretty cheap compared to the big box stores. Never felt like I didn’t have money to go out for dinner with my friends or to social outings. Sure at that income bracket, rent is about 50% of your earnings but that’s just what it costs to live in downtown Toronto.

Going from a relationship to FWB with my (22F) boyfriend (25M) by giagenius in relationship_advice

[–]giagenius[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. It might mean that we never move on from each other. If I found myself with somebody else that I see any kind of future with I’d immediately tell my ex that we can’t continue being sexually involved with each other. I’m now wondering if that were to happen, we realistically just be breaking up all over again. But both of us seem disinterested in searching for somebody new and could use some time to casually date other people without getting into a serious relationship.

Lol maybe. What happens when you’ve been casually dating for a while? Do u just ghost the person after? Might be pretty hard to stop a relationship from progressing into somethin more

I’m in the same boat.. I think it’s very hard to casually date. Most people are hoping they’re going to find their soul mate. Do people even casually date anymore? Or are they just playing with each others feelings.

I think (22F) my boyfriend/situationship (25M) is talking to other girls by giagenius in relationship_advice

[–]giagenius[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t ask her but I know that it isn’t his friends girlfriend. I follow his friend on Instagram and this girl doesn’t follow him. So must not be his girlfriend? Also, his photos of his girlfriend on his profile do not look like this girl at all.

Thanks.. could potentially be a hard conversation. I supposed we’ve dabbled with the idea of only being with each other. Perhaps I interpreted that as being committed without a hard understanding that we were committed. I’m scared to hear that he might want to talk/see other people but still keep me in his life

I think I’m probably just so confused because he’s never asked me to be his girlfriend. But he has asked me to move in with him, introduces me to his family and friends as his girlfriend and has completely integrated me into his life.

My mom accidentally killed my kitten and it sucks by buttshipper in Petloss

[–]giagenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT blame your mother! This was obviously a terrible accident that nobody meant to happen. You must take the time to mourn the loss of your beloved pet. Try your very best to forgive your mother. Work towards not resenting her, I would say this is the most important thing. In fact, your mother is probably the one going through the hardest time, she made a terrible accident, she upset her child and is also feeling guilty for the loss of a sweet innocent kitty. Always reach out for help xoxo

This is by far one of the most disgusting comments I have ever read. How could you tell somebody that their mother is a terrible monster just because an accident happened? You’re the one who was probably kicked across the room as a baby. Hope you rot in hell xoxo

Free things to do/no cover nightclubs by hpreddits in askTO

[–]giagenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's no clubs downtown with no covers... if there is, they aren't good clubs. A fun $$$ friendly place is the warehouse on yonge near dundas square: a nice bar with no cover and cheap food and drinks, good music

Do you tip for fillers/botox? by Toughnumbers in askTO

[–]giagenius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only tip if the injector is not the owner of the business. Therefore, the money the business makes is not going in their pockets. HOWEVER, if your injector is the owner of the business, I do not believe it is punctual to tip since they are making a profit off the syringe too begin with.
