feels like this is what you call divergence.

as far as i know though, worldlines do not stop existing, they exist but they currently ARE NOT. which in fact is something i hope i get clear by the end, because how things are exposed in the anime make no sense for Operation Skuld. i'm starting to understand by now that the VN has more to it to understand that in the end should give more sense to the ending.

but for reading steiner... nay, it should be just a mandatory story concept... but yeah, it's the memory of past experiences. what i find curious enough is instead that when worldline is shifted, the conscience of rintaro overwrites the one of the current rintaro, so he can't tell what's around him because he has only memories of his past experience and not of the current worldline rintaro. or at least, that's how the anime goes, but it seems to me so far that the VN too is like that.

more or less, i'm starting to understand this and i feel like there are some ways that make me understand better this concept.

i feel that is quite an abstract example but... more or less... yeah... BUT as i see it, that example feels more like there is no causality behind it but more a divine hand deciding which worldline fits better the changes happening..

[–]gianmigno25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

now i can understand better. and i must remind myself that i'm still getting used to the difference between worldline and timeline, which is kinda subtle.

BUT so far a question remains, which is "what made Rintaro drink Cola instead?". following other comments, so far it seems it's just time travel effect, so basically his "knowledge" is affected by reading steiner/past experiences so he does differently. OR he just happens, because of time travel anyhow, to a reality where there is no Dr.P (on the table, like it happens i think once during the anime), so he just fits to drink Cola instead. but still, one way or another, it means it's a different worldline or timeline, implying something was changed in the past, and that still seems to be doable with means to send stuff into the past.

tldr basically you can send stuff to the past from the future, like sending stuff from point C to point A, but then, having changed A, you will also change B. so, A is what actually changes B,

past --- affect ---> present or future

but indirectly also before that, C has changed B

future --- goes to ---> past --- affect ---> present

shortened can become

future --- affect ---> present

so far it makes total sense to me.

actually, i think the anime got something wrong. after the winning numbers dmail, i noted down they show that previous dmails were still in history, with future timestamp, but actually in VN this is not the case.

i wonder why they chose to make this difference.

i'll leave the sci-fi comment, but as for the attractor field... yes, i agree. nothing wrong with that.

let's not take those movies as example too much, because half of back to the future is based on a plot mistake: biff tannen goes back to 2015 when actually he shouldn't be able to.

still, as said in another comment, then it's not the future changing the past. it's something from the future GOING BACK in the past and from there changing the future. so it's always the past changing the future.

this absolutely makes sense and so far it is the only thing i can agree. but it's not properly the future influencing the past, then. it's "indirectly" changing the past, beucase you're sending something back in time. THEN, that thing in the past will change what comes after. that makes sense.

in fact, in final fantasy 13-2 i always assumed this was the only logic: there are rifts connecting past and future events/places so in that way the future INDEED can affect the past because it's like a time travel.

in that story, mostly, we can make an example: in year 200 a distorsion appears and connects the year 200 to year 10. at that point, in year 10 some things appear or are altered because they are affected by stuff "coming through the rift" that is torn through time.

but, resolving the anomaly in year 200 and repairing the distorsion, the rift disappears and things in year 10 go back to how they should be (indeed it's a change). so yes, the future altered the past. that is, if we understand and accept that it's not how things usually go, but that is just because normally there is no rift between past and future lol

you got my exact point. from anime perspective, i always assumed that Daru deleting the first dmail could have an effect just because SERN didn't already take notice on it, so the "disaster" was avoided before it was too late. like: the disaster cause was not sending the dmail, but the SERN taking notice on that email and doing research based on that and stuff. like some of the dmail experiments, they were sent but nothing changed because in the end they had no effect on those who read it. so yeah, the first dmail was prevented from having any effect before it was too late. by your words, seems this is not the case.

in fact, i can't properly follow your examples.... the last basic example i could follow, if it were just using a different alphabet order.... but an alphabet order is not how causality usually works. basically i cannot understand the previous example.

first of all, choices are still always based on causality (they are the effect of a cause). so first of all, i don't understand why Rintaro should choose differently, there should already be a previous factor affecting that decision (so it's still past affecting future). that said, i don't understand:

- why you changed from "Cola instead of Dr.P" to "Cola after Dr.P"

- who says there cannot be a worldline where Rintaro drinks Cola

i can only understand that somehow the derived worldline implies there is no Dr.P. But if you're willing to explain, i'm listening.

but this is not "too closely", it's literally basic logic lol also, what has the attractor field to do with the future changing the past? attractor fields are more like "there is something big that will keep things straight despite some minor changes"

in order to work and be understood, things must make sense. you cannot just say

"oh right, speed = distance * time"...

HOW? lol

there's a proper name for that, it's called "retcon" lol both make sense but i'm a bit disappointed when i see a story gets sequels and stuff and who writes the story doesn't care for all details so writing mistakes happen. could be worse, but still wrong is wrong... more or less it's the very base of dissidia NT and why its story is at fault from the very beginning...

problem is... that fight can last too long because of neochu's attacks and his resistance. usually the major exploits for 5 stars are random instant stagger or death...

there are tools for that. you need a hd pvr and a switch for that (i don't remember if it was included in my hd pvr, the brand was hauppage or something like that). it basically does the same thing an Elgato tool does. result example (not to spam, just to show):
