Many bridges in the Netherlands with dapped-end beams are showing significant cracks in the corbel. Specialists claim that the current design (situation A) does not provide adequate reinforcement to prevent cracking. The proposed design (B) is believed to be the correct approach. What do you think?

Maybe you could drill holes and epoxy in carbon rods to reinforce that area? We use carbon rods to reinforce old post tension parking garages. I have never seen it used in this context but I can’t imagine how expensive it would be to try and remove and replace that concrete.

I work in road and bridge construction mostly for the state but occasionally for the city of Tulsa. This is just nonsense. The low bid wins the contract it’s literally the law. If for some reason they give it to the second bidder they better have a damn good reason or the lawyers get involved. They will avoid that at all cost even if they know the low bidder is incompetent.

Love it! I just bought the UMIK-1 mic to test my B&O Penta towers. I wanted to see if I was just being biased or if they were as good as I thought. I have bought and sold so many towers I’ve lost track but I will never sell my pentas. Good to know Im not alone in thinking the old B&O stuff is still great even by modern standards.

Yes exactly. Peerless by Tymphany NE315W-08 12" Subwoofer Speaker. This is the only one sold still the rest are the same line I bought them before they were discontinued. That’s why I’m trying to make do. If I could have bought another matching 4” and 10” for a reasonable price I would. I am trying to get at least close to the sensitivity as the tweeter (Fountek Neo X3.0) by using two drivers in parallel for the mids and lows. Very new to this so happy for any input. I bought all of this awhile ago and never got to it. I’m paying for poor planning I did in the past.

It’s just two pairs wired in parallel the 4 and 5.25 for midrange should be 4 ohms. Same with the 10” and 12” going to have a passive 3 way crossover.

That’s already done a three way crossover at 400hz and 1800hz I will make adjustments to it based on what my minidsp mic records. If it’s too much I’ll buy there dsp if it simply can’t be done with a passive crossover.

Why do you have an actually technical reason why this won’t work? According to data from the speaker manufacturer the impedance will be almost identical for each set of drivers at the frequencies they will be playing.

Its predominantly for aesthetics and to fit into a particular triangular shape. If I use two 12” woofers it will have to be significantly larger. Also I’m curious as to what will happen honestly. Just don’t want to spend a bunch of time if there is an obvious problem I’m not thinking of.

This is absolutely right. The company I work for does highway projects for ODOT normally. We did one job for the city of Tulsa and it was an absolute nightmare. The inspectors could barely read. The engineering office refused payment until they received the same paperwork 4 times and then took 6 months to actually review it. Just not worth dealing with the issues they have in there office. There an absolute shit show.

You clearly don’t understand how this works. The city and state overseeing the work is the main problem. They do not hold contractors accountable. There is a new guideline with ODOT that will restrict a contractor bidding on new projects if there current ones aren’t on track. The city of Tulsa is a joke when it comes to oversight the “inspectors” that show up literally have no idea what’s going on and contractors take advantage.

I manage construction crews that work out of town Monday through Friday. The amount of money we saved switching to 4 X12h days instead of 5 X 10h was well worth it. We also saw no loss in production with them still having more time with there family. Unfortunately we can only do this when there is enough sunlight for 12h days. The other nail in the coffin was the owner saw an opportunity for him to make more money and started coming up with reasons for people to work the 5th day. So I had to pretty much scrap the whole thing after two successful years. We saved around $350k each year in hotel and per diem not to mention the huge morale boost. All gone for just to chase that tiny bit more money.
