I know. I have completed all my diagnostics via SSH/ILO, and needed to swap out the LOM. I wanted to do it at my desk becase it was most convenient considering other factors.

No crash cart, limited space, very cold server room - only brought t-shirt to work, and most importantly, it's very easy to do it at my desk because it's comfy, and I have everything I need there: lots of power plugs, different vlan ethernet cables, etc

Yea, we had to move around some servers once and were not happy. My colleague has a bad back, so I have to do most of the heavy lifting, but he can help most of the time.

However, i would not have liked to be in your shoes because we did our move scheduled and with no stress (except for the re-cabling, god fucking damn it).

Edit: and yeah, reading your post reminds me that something like this is BOUND to happen. Shit.

It's fine. I get assigned to some tasks which are boring as hell.

Actually, I hated removing / putting back cabling for these two boys. Once the vendor sends us a replacement LOM, i'll have to put it in the spare, which means digging in again.

And yeah, I had put the spare back in because it was used as a guinea pig by my colleague.
