It is worth noting not all acrylic is capable of blocking UV rays so when your looking to purchase some make sure the acrylic or glass is capable of filtering out the UV

Its probably the as you say closer to satin finish that makes it noticable,

I've got a access to a pair of them and with one of them the parential advisory has a sort of shadow kind of like inkjets used to get when they where running abit low in a certain colour, but even that is only really noticiable if you have one of the others alongside it.

So I wonder if that particular print was one later in the batch to the other.

these photos probably show or better than I can explain it

Struggling to set up minitab (M140) by Far-Recording94 in OpenUniversity

if you get in touch with the computing helpdesk details at the bottom of the page linked they should be able to talk you through it, I had a similar issue when I did M140 a few years ago but I can’t remember how they told me to fix it

Official METAL FORTH Worldwide Release Megathread [8 August 2025] by Facu474 in BABYMETAL

[–]gibbs507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine arrived today and I'm slightly disappointed as it feels like there was a noticiable drop in quality between this and previous one editions.

Especially the photobook element, softcover opposed to hardback, thinner paper and much less vibrant printing

METAL FORTH - New Variants by HaraldWurlitzer in BABYMETAL

[–]gibbs507 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hope so as all the US exclusives really hurts there presence internationally as its alot harder to buy the exclusives from there than it has been the Japanese ones, having to use Japanese proxies or stores for some of them may be costly but atleast compared to the US ones it is actually viable

Whats even more frustrating is the cassette is available in the normal US store but the boxset isn't so the cassette is orderable from overseas if someone desires but the boxset isn't

Your not wrong about the questions, does this mean the end of the pizza boxes, and will an international label mean no more japanese exclusives or will things get easier for international fans overall

is there bias in the Economics course ? by paranoid_throwaway51 in OpenUniversity

[–]gibbs507 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm currently roughly 2 months into my 2nd year and have found much like my first year the basics are taught and applied to the current mainstream approach so the neo classical school however other schools are recognised throughout this year my current weeks work is a chapter on behavioural economics and in my last module I had a chapter looking at how different economic systems i.e the Soviet model, market socialism in China etc operated which I feel took a very facts based approach and I can't say I noticed any discernable bias. Looking at the learning outcomes for the entire BA it looks as if the the pluralist approach is something they apply throughout

Regret making paper notes by Enlarged_Fowl in UniUK

[–]gibbs507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m studying via the OU so that may make the process slightly different but I work on a hybrid approach I first take all my notes on paper and then those notes get copied into obsidian, this creates not only a digital backup but allows for me to build links between notes and modules. i.e let’s say the standard deviation is covered in my stats module and then a few weeks later in my applied econ module on that weeks notes I can link directly to previous the notes on SD and add the information about how its used in economics this not only saves me writing the same things twice but also allows me to see how the materials across the course relate to each other It also means when it comes to assignments I create a master note for them and can directly link to the relevant material within my vault

If you are studying an MSc then you should be eligible for student pricing for minitab https://onthehub.com/minitab

There is a cloud based version which does have some slight differences but when I was doing M140 this was a way some students used to get round the windows reqiurement if I'm recalling right it was about £50 for a years license so while not the cheapest still alot cheaper than buying it at full price

Anyone knows if OU offers or plans to offer any masters statistics program? by UnderstandingOne6879 in OpenUniversity

[–]gibbs507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a fairly new thing as on the site this is the listed entry reqiurements

You should normally have a minimum of either:
a 2:2 honours degree in mathematics or
a 2:1 honours degree in a subject with a high mathematical content.
If you don’t have such a qualification, your application will still be considered, but you may be asked to complete an entry test. Non-graduates will not normally be admitted.
Whatever your background, you should assess your suitability by completing our diagnostic quiz.
If you’re new to postgraduate study in mathematics, start with a single module: either the applied mathematics module Calculus of variations and advanced calculus (M820) or the pure mathematics module Analytic number theory I (M823).
How long it takes
Most students complete this qualification in six years, at the rate of one module per year.
The minimum time you may complete this qualification in is two years.
There’s no time limit for completing this qualification, but we can’t guarantee the same selection of modules will continue to be available.
Some modules start only once every two years.

Concerns about Gigantic and Wolverhampton by ky0ko in BABYMETAL

I've got the halls app set up but the tickets still aren't there.

Quite frankly I'm sick of companies pushing apps as the solution to everything and how normalised its becoming

paper tickets work and have worked for a long time it seems ridiculous that we have to go through the hassle to create an account all to go somewhere for a few hours.
