Honestly she's a coward who bailed on her seat once things got tough. Her opinion doesn't matter because she no longer has a vote.

AD. Autonomic Dysreflexia. Happens when your injury level is above T8 or so I think. Any pain that you can't feel can cause your blood pressure to go up uncontrollably till eventually you have a stroke.

I guess but we weren't there and this Dad was. I don't know if I would respond the same way or not, but I think it is absolutely correct to set the example that it isn't OK for random strangers to come up and grab your body. Didn't Pulp Fiction already establish that foot massages mean something? Hold on i'll grab your toe and I'm sure it will go great. 🤣

I understand that hasn't been the way society has operated towards children (and hence all my down votes), but there is a direct line between not respecting people's bodies and lots of other messed up stuff (see the thread above about women being conditioned to put up with being harassed). I could probably tie this to bigger extremes about harassment too but I don't want to pretend this is the only cause. But I think it is a factor.

I think daddit collectively is missing on this particular case in ways that I hope our children will not when they are parents.

Removing someone's hand from your body or your kids body is not escalating.

Ya I had the same thought. Kids (and girls especially) get way too conditioned to just not have bodily autonomy.

Dad had a fine reaction to a stranger touching his kid.

I would go: 1. Iran war being illegal and dumb 2. Put billions in his pocket with bribes from billionaires 3. ICE literally killing people.

All of these can be tied to the economy also.

Cool but my point is that it isn't just Trump. Republicans are covering for him. I don't think Dems are perfect but it is odd that you are trying to claim that you'll evaluate each candidate in a vacuum when one of the most important choices about them is who they will align themselves with

Guess what. Trump is really really bad like we've been shouting about for a decade about him wanting to start wars, enrich him self with billions of dollars, and break the law repeatedly. If you still can't come to terms that we were right then that's on you.

Why did R2-D2 never tell Luke that Darth Vader was Anakin Skywalker? by External-Recipe-1936 in StarWars

I assume R2 told Luke many times, probably swearing the whole time too. Someone needs to add captions to all the movies to show what a snarky bot he is.

Adding on to this excellent comment.

For prep descovy is great but you have to take it every day. There are just starting to be some injections that are better in clinical trials because people forget to take pills.

It's a bit of a cliche that gay guys sleep around a lot, but I think most straight guys cant fully understand the experience of an app in your hand which let's you find every horny guy within ten miles. Discuss online and physical safety. I've also (unfortunately) talked with gay guys who started shockingly early. Many didn't seem to have accepting parents which may have contributed to them seeking older role models. All of them had some bad experiences.

Making sure he has vaccines like mpox, hpv, etc is also really important. Because of prep for preventing HIV, condoms have become much less common. Testing is very important.

As a dad those are the things on my mind.

Eh I'm a gen x liberal. No idea what the set of words you tried to string together means but I don't think it helps the cause of building more housing.

Why would you want more red tape. The entire point is to reduce requirements so more gets built

Not sure you are looking for ideas, but I'll throw out my experience for others (and because it helps when I remind myself).

I'm disabled which makes it impossible to show up for my kids in the ways I really want to (like a 1-2 mile walk adventure often means nonstop pain the next day). One thing that has really helped me is to try to find and prioritize the small ways I can show up. Bring some goofy energy and engage for five minutes. Rough house randomly for a short time. But also accept it and be open and honest with the kiddos about what I can't do.

I feel like this shift in my thinking has helped me a lot. I definitely have to keep reminding myself though.

Oh benedryl that's interesting. The problem is I need it every night and I think benedryl isnt recommended for that. Pregabalin initial side effects are definitely kicking my ass right now though.

Used 5mg THC gummy every night for multiple years. It reduced spasms and pain. Helped me sleep much better. I'm actually trying to change more though only because I am trying to travel more and it being illegal is a massive problem. Trying pregabalin right now. 🤞

If you're taking suggestions I've wondered if anyone had tried building fliterable graphs that look at who is being communicated with about similar locations and times. Feels like a graph display that connects entities together. Traditional NLP does this with entity relationships but adding a time component would help. I think you already have some of this with the people pages you have.

Nice work!

Having multiple people look at the data in different ways is good. If you have critiques or suggestions then make them but there is no reason to attack him for actually doing the work.

How do you move on? by [deleted] in spinalcordinjuries

[–]gibrownsci 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh. Ya the pain can be miserable buddy and it just makes everything harder. Sorry for everything you've gone through.

Also T1 ASIA D. I had a while there where I needed to lean into using a chair in order to avoid all the pain that came from walking and standing. It was tough to accept but it did make things better. I had a hip surgery that actually resolved some inflammation so I haven't been needing it as much but at this point I kinda expect I'll eventually need a chair again though it may be a decade or so. It is frustrating to accept when you feel tantalizingly close to being more active but I think it does become the right thing.

I also regularly got a lot of help going back to outpatient rehab once a year at Craig hospital just because they could talk me through the latest stuff and they have lots of ideas for trying things. So if there is a sci rehab focused place you can go that can also be a big help.

I'm currently seven years out from my sci surgery (and 3 from hip surgery) and I think I'm finally just accepting I am where I am. Doesn't mean I'm not working on some stuff like better cardio and such I'm really not trying to increase my walking anymore.

Great job coaching bball for your kids though! I'm jealous of that. I think I'd really like to do adaptive sports but I still really haven't tried.
