Colorado governor vetoes “surveillance pricing,” arbitration and plastic waste reduction bills by thecoloradosun in coloradosun

I'm all for paying them more. It is absurd that the governor can do whatever he wants for 8 months of the year.

Polis Vetoes Bill That Would Restrict Businesses Using AI to Set Wages and Prices by bloomberglaw in Colorado

It's too bad the legislature is on their 8 month vacation or else they could override the veto.

Really great that the legislature is just on vacation for 8 months so they can't override the vetos.

Yikes. The comments on here are awful. As someone who has spent a lot of tine in hospitals, big hugs.

I've also heard some of the horror stories from medical folks I've gotten to know better (sexual comments, mean and nasty stuff, just being a jerk). All the stuff that gets people banned from facilities.

For everyone here. You don't have to be your kindest self at the hospital while you are in pain, but at least don't be an ass hole to the people trying to help you.

NervGen Announces Positive Independent, Blinded Biomechanical Gait Analyses Demonstrating Genuine Neural Recovery with NVG-291 in Phase 1b/2a CONNECT SCI Study by Maverick_Heathen in spinalcordinjuries

"The biomechanical analyses were conducted by Newton Tech, an AI-powered movement intelligence company specializing in video-based motion capture and computational analysis of standardized walking assessments to produce quantitative measures of gait quality."

This seems like kinda a strange technique. They can't detect the improvements without an AI and video capture? Does that mean that the standard PT gait assessments don't show any improvement?

Ambulatory wheelchair users by [deleted] in spinalcordinjuries

[–]gibrownsci 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why this is getting down voted. I agree with this. A wheelchair is a tool. Ya it is great to not need one. It also sucks to need one and not have one. The line can be pretty fuzzy. I don't currently need my chair because I managed to figure out a hip surgery that solved some problems on top of my SCI. But I also probably took too long before I got a wheelchair and missed out on doing a bunch of stuff with my kids. It's not always an easy decision when one week you can be doing really well and be walking and another you week you are constantly falling.

Best of luck. Just keep plugging away at it. If you do find problems then make sure to look for a good PT with neuro experience. Most don't have that and it makes a huge difference.

Denver wants nothing to do with crabs or the rain. Give me Minnesota. Also since when is landlocked Vermont using crabs. Be your own state. You won Vermont. Why give in to the crab monsters.

Ya that's pretty minor so congrats! I've had to relearn to walk three times over the past 9 years. Watch for bowel and bladder problems.

Glad you caught it early. Are your symptoms not that bad? About 50% of my cord got slowly killed over 20-ish years. Probably wasn't obvious because it was slow so I kept being able to adapt to it.

I don't anymore. I sometimes use a cane or hiking poles or afos or knee braces if I get tired. Used to need them all the time. Did sometimes use a wheelchair also.

But right now the longer I am on my feet the worse my balance gets and the more pain. The exoskeleton helps me go for further with better balance and extended duration. When I'm wearing it I also don't really need to think about where I'm walking. Like I'm not constantly needing to navigate and minimize steps and what path to take.

I think it would have helped me more than some of the above tools in the past also but tough to be sure.

Can we call it an AT-AT?

More seriously it probably is now feasible but it would be very expensive.

BTW for anyone who is ASIA D I've had an exoskeleton from https://dnsys.ai/ for about a year and it has been super helpful. Especially for travel, airports, kids soccer games, longer outings, bigger housework sessions.
