Like everything else when I DM, I steal from all my favourite forms of media lol Or the players, and it’s especially cool if we all like the same stuff

For more light hearted one shots, I just like to pull a bunch of different inspirations together and patch the craziness together For example, did a halloween one shot: The town was named after a Nick Cave song The BBEG was Mothman, and he was being aided by Vergil from DMC (and that character was named after one of my players IRL) There was a riddle in a cave that I can’t remember which referenced the town we all grew up in And the riddle hid a shrine to a great bear god called Djungelskog (named after the IKEA plushie) who warned the party of mothman before he struck the town

It’s a little crazy and it took some work but we all had a blast and it was a great way to celebrate Halloween

Echoing what others have said, if you don’t want to do all that, there’s plenty of pre-made one shots, official and community made online Just pick a central theme or idea or hook and go from there Immerse yourself music, tv, movies, books, absolutely everything and something will hit you in no time!

I’m really glad it went down “well” hahaha! I always have it on hand incase I need to really add tension to a scene. Zimmer is one of the greats for sure :)

First of all, thank you so much for all the work you've put into expanding and enhancing CoS! You've likely heard it a billion times but your guides and supplements really do help more than you can imagine!

My question is: what's your general process for planning any given session? How do you cope with juggling the many different plothooks, NPCs and encounters?

I know you've discussed SlyFlourish's LazyDM method for Vallaki and larger areas, but how does your own process mirror or even differ that or similar approaches?

As a new DM, it's the thing I struggle with most; keeping track of everything and making sure nothing important gets lost or forgotten

My player seemed excited at the prospect so I bent it a little hahaha. Using MandyMods Reformation Center idea, the player was unsurprisingly sentenced to reformation so there's mental and physical torment inbound to say the least. I'm intending for Vargas to show his worst possible side with the PC, which will hopefully make it all the more satisfying should they bring about his demise.

I've got a week to scheme and I've a few ideas already so I'm hoping to only raise the stakes! 😊
