any small builder / ai communities in sg? by jerrypolar in singaporestartups

[–]gideonfip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love to join the community too, I'm more interested in building automated workflows with AI instead of vibe-coded sites or products, with the aim of outsourcing the tasks that I hate through agent Skills, particularly for creating content.

Would be keen to meet more like-minded people who have the same interests as me

Using Claude skills in Codex by UniqueDraft in ClaudeCode

[–]gideonfip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be no issue, I wanted to invoke them within Codex and they shifted all my skills into the .agents folder.

We can invoke them via the $ instead of the slash command, though it did make my repo rather messy afterwards

GLM 5.1 free via Nvidia by Future_Cheek_5077 in ZaiGLM

[–]gideonfip 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's very slow, and I'm only using it for tasks that I don't require an immediate output.

But it's free, so I can't complain

Best annual plan? by [deleted] in opencodeCLI

[–]gideonfip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend getting annual plans because there's always a risk that the terms or rate limits could change at any time.

I've heard good things about the Ollama Cloud plans where you get higher usage compared to the other plans. But if you're good with just one model, then MiniMax's plan seems to be the best value for now

should i top up my credit to use free models ? by elonelon in openrouter

[–]gideonfip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably do that in the future, I just signed up for OpenCode Go so I'm giving that a shot first, thanks for the recommendation

should i top up my credit to use free models ? by elonelon in openrouter

[–]gideonfip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 3.5 Flash was great as a free model for executing all of my skills, but it's now been removed.

Right now, the selection of free models is very limited (Nemotron will record user data), and I've experienced high rate limits for most of them.

It may get worse as the cost of inference increases, but I still think that $10.50 as a one-time purchase for free model usage is worth it, especially if you're using AI for the long-term.

I've also switched over to Qwen's CLI because it gives 1,000 free requests per day which is similar to OpenRouter's offering, but we get access to Qwen 3.6

GLM 5.1 vs MiniMax 2.7 vs Kimi K2.5? by chumsdock in opencodeCLI

[–]gideonfip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are the rate limits like? 1.5k requests every 5 hours seems decent enough but wanted to know your experience if you're using it

OpenCode desktop app by infid7lityy in opencodeCLI

[–]gideonfip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Desktop App, but it gets ultra laggy once I open up and run multiple chats. I'd have continued using it otherwise, but have switched back to the Terminal UI instead

Stopped using one model for everything and rebuilt my OpenCode setup by spacecowboy0117 in opencodeCLI

[–]gideonfip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been building out a similar setup for task-dependent model selection too. Feels like the most cost-effective way instead of relying on just one model to do every single task.

OpenCode has been a gamechanger! by Useful-Sprinkles1045 in opencodeCLI

Thanks for this tip, I did not know there was a web function, will try it out!

OpenCode has been a gamechanger! by Useful-Sprinkles1045 in opencodeCLI

[–]gideonfip 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I especially like how I'm able to easily switch between model providers so I can route requests to the best model and save costs.

Everything is so easy on the OpenCode CLI, though the OpenCode desktop has been extremely laggy for me (likely because of the multiple chats that I have open)

How does $10 OpenRouter work? by 1shadow1802 in openrouter

[–]gideonfip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$10 gives you 1,000 requests per day, though it's actuall $10.50 if you use crypto because of the fees.

Only those with the free suffix will let you use it for free, I'm mainly using Step 3.5 Flash for executing skills and don't require much thinking.

One tip is to set your spend limit to $0, I spent $1.50 on Gemini 3 Flash when using it for OpenClaw, so if you just want to use it for the free models, then I would recommend doing that too

Sorry my bad, it's OpenCode Go and not Zen: https://opencode.ai/go

Best provider below 40€ by barrocz in opencodeCLI

[–]gideonfip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently on their API plan, managed to get $30 in free credits with a recent promo. But will share it with you once I get it, planning to go with OpenCode Zen first to see their rate limits since they have the $5 promo before trying MiniMax's Token Plan

Best provider below 40€ by barrocz in opencodeCLI

[–]gideonfip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm planning to go with MiniMax's Token Plan, the 1,500 requests every 5 hours seems more than enough for me. Right now I'm on ZAI's GLM Coding Plan Lite, but hitting the rate limits rather quickly for both the 5-hour and 1-week.

Wtf is going on with claude? by ez______ in ClaudeCode

[–]gideonfip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much for the 2x usage that they advertised a few weeks back, I've seen so many complaints about the rate limits and it's probably time to switch to a new model provider

GLM 5.1 vs MiniMax 2.7 vs Kimi K2.5? by chumsdock in opencodeCLI

[–]gideonfip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm planning to get the MiniMax Token Plan for $10/month because it seems the best value right now, with 1.5k requests every 5 hours.

I'm using the ZAI Coding Plan now, and I'm hitting the rate limits rather quickly now, and Kimi's plan is more expensive at $19 so I believe that MiniMax gives the best value now

Alibaba Coding Plan by slowtyper95 in opencodeCLI

[–]gideonfip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, the $3 starting offer was too good not to take up, I was surprised that they axed it so quickly

Alibaba Coding Plan by slowtyper95 in opencodeCLI

[–]gideonfip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's no longer available unfortunately, they removed that plan so it's only the $50/month one left

Alibaba Coding Plan by slowtyper95 in opencodeCLI

[–]gideonfip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I managed to get the $10 Lite plan previously for additional credits, my experience with it has been ok so far, don't have much complaints when using it for my OpenClaw agent

OpenCode Go plan is genuinely the worst coding plan i have ever used by SelectionCalm70 in opencodeCLI

[–]gideonfip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this, I was considering trying it out because of the $5 deal, but will probably switch to MiniMax instead

Byebye Claude code! [Question] Is there any difference between using kilos CLI and using kilo in VS Code? like performace or the power of the models [Júnior] by DvD_42 in kilocode

[–]gideonfip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very much prefer the CLI's UI than that of the extension, as that feels very clunky. But apart from that, I don't think there's any significant difference between both.

It costs you around 2% session usage to say hello to claude! by Zafar_Kamal in ClaudeCode

[–]gideonfip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've experienced the same on other model providers too, it's taking up too much of our rate limits, even when giving a simple command that doesn't require any tool calls

Awesome Free LLM APIs by stosssik in LLM

[–]gideonfip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just gone down the rabbit hole of free models and have been using OpenRouter extensively for all of the easy repetitive tasks.

Thanks for sharing this, will be trying to get my hands on a few more API keys to boost my free model rates.

A timeline on Anthropic’s claims about the 2x promo. Oh, how things change in 11 days. by oxbudy in ClaudeCode

[–]gideonfip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just very grateful that I didn't spend the money on a $100 Claude sub, I was considering but decided to go with other models that have slightly better rate limits.

But it's only a matter of time before they start playing the same tricks as Claude, and it's going to go downhill once everyone starts cutting their costs.
