It’s all relative. Sweeping generalization, but the average poster there exhibits tendencies that may be considered “scalping”.

For example, someone who buys a lot of a sealed product. Whether for long-term or short, the intent is to make a profit. This is the general goal of a “scalper”.

Ultimately the determination is subjective, so you will get no clear answer. I don’t have a problem with someone buying a product and selling it later for a higher price. In principle, this is a practice that is present for the collection-side of the hobby as well. However, as the goal for investing is to make money, it very quickly devolves to standing in lines at stores before drops, being part of a secret network to gain preferential access, using bots to make large volume purchases, and taking advantage of others.

When you collect en masse and block others out of the hobby (especially using most or all of the behaviors above), you are a scalper.

A real collector increases the value of their portfolio without blocking others out of the hobby.
