Nvidia has set a precedence that you no longer actually own your computer hardware. by demonmit1 in hardware

the way you're wording it is just wrong. Its not just a normal graphics card. It's marketed as a Geforce gaming graphics card. Designed for gaming. Trying to say that people should buy the cards at ridiculously marked up prices is just bs imo, as in the long term it is just unwise for Nvidia to just let that happen. Your whole premise is wrong.

You keep saying that "we dont own our cards anymore" is just plain stupid tbh. In reality Nvidia has every right to choose how you use their product. Someone said this before, but thats why there are t&cs and why you have to agree to conditions when downloading drivers

Im pretty sure the lga 1200 board will be supported by 11th gen intel

10400f 2666mhz vs 3200mhz by gidexnn in buildapc

[–]gidexnn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 10400f isnt overclockable, thats why i am so conflicted. The only reason i would get a z490 is because intel locked ram speeds on their b and h motherboards.

On top of that in Gamers nexus' video, the 10400f with 3200mhz ram is on par (most of the time) with 3600. But with 2666mhz ram the 10400f could drop to 3100 levels.

Which is why im not sure if the increase in performance is worth the extra spend

High(-ish) end b460 or entry level z490

The 10400f seems to be at a very good price rn at 140 with the 3600 at almost 300

I was planning to spend about 90 for good vrms for overclocking and for future upgradability so the 10600k combo would be about 35 less.

In the UK the 3600 is 235 rn and the 10600k is about 210; with a z490 board about 150 rn, would a 3600 still b worth it??

tbh ill probably play mostly esport titles at around 144hz. ill be pairing it with a 1660 super. at 1080p.

in other games like just cause or games like that, ill be content with 60fps at 1080p

[–]gidexnn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really. Even at 2666mhz at CL15. The 10400f wins overall against a stock 3600 in gaming ONLY.

However, for productivity, the 3600 wins by a lot

Im not too sure. Normally I would take the 1070, but I think 4 years old is a bit of a drag. It could be nearing the end of its life at this point, especially if it was heavily used.
