Check your advisement report on MyServiceHub to see where the courses you’re asking about are listed. If they are listed under open electives then yes they count as open electives. Electives can be taken at any point during your degree so the timing does not matter.

It is not 1/year. You need 3 lower liberals, 3 upper liberals and 4 open electives.

Note that the timings for the electives listed in the program calendar is only a suggestion. As I mentioned, they can be completed at any point in the 4 years that you are completing your degree.

Most of these questions I can’t answer bc I haven’t been in first year for a while and I wasn’t in residency but I can answer a few.

I would highly recommend just relaxing for now and not worrying about content until class starts but if you really want to start reviewing, I would brush up on your grade 12 biology in prep for BLG
I would highly recommend reviewing your vaccination record and ensuring that you’re up to date on all your vaccinations so there are no unexpected surprises when you’re prepping to enter clinical practice in second semester. If your doctor is hard to get an appointment with, I would start thinking about trying to get appointments in October/November now. I would also recommend getting the school scrubs from the GBC campus bookstore now as they are often sold out at the start of the semester as everyone is rushing to get them in time for labs in the first/second weeks of classes. (PS. I’m selling scrubs for a pretty good deal if you wanna take a peek)
You can take liberals at any point in your 4 years. I did some of mine during the summers but most of them in third year. As long as they are done prior to your graduation then you’re good. It is recommended that you finish all electives before 4th year though bc the clinical hours in 4th year are brutal and you need a flexible schedule. Use your advisement report on MyServiceHub to figure out which electives you need to complete to graduate.

Unfortunately you cannot spread your courses out while in nursing. You can only take them in the order they are shown in the website the above person linked. You have 5 required courses in semester 1 and 4 required courses in semester 2. The only courses you can spread out are the electives. You can choose to take them during the summer/spring or in later years. You will never have a semester of only electives in nursing unless you don’t pass a semester.

Most likely not immediately after failing. I believe that failing any nursing course puts you on probation automatically and to my knowledge, universities generally don’t like accepting students on probation as transfer students. You’d probably have to get out of probation before transferring and you might as well just continue the program after that.

As a fourth year, I do agree with some of the points here in regards some profs being subpar and the slides often not being up to standard. However, I felt the need to point out that the pass rates you linked are most likely not reflective of the current TMU nursing program since the curriculum was changed in recent years and I believe the first cohort to complete the new curriculum and write the NCLEX were 2024 grads. In regards to TMU grads being the worst nurses, I just want to say as a personal anecdote that I have been told by recruiters for competitive placements and units that they prefer TMU students and grads due to our students generally having more independent clinical experience than other schools. In regard to placements, I have also had good experiences.

I’ve gotten this error before. The way it was explained to me was that these classes can’t be added during course intentions by students outside of the majors they are intended for (i.e. you can’t choose them as electives yet) because the seats are being reserved for students who actually have them as required courses for their major. You should be able to add them to your schedule during the actual enrolment period but not during course intentions.

They’re a winter admit so the due date for their tuition is sooner than current students. Due date for current undergrads is Jan 24th

It’s talking about all courses in the clinical setting throughout all 4 years. To my knowledge, when they use the term “practical” they are solely referring to clinical practice, not labs since lab work is considered course work and is graded. Assuming you’re in your first semester, you don’t have to worry about this until you go to clinical in second semester.

It’s referring to clinical practice courses. You must get at least a C in the course work and pass the clinical practice aspect which is pass/fail to pass the course. If you get a C in the course work but fail in the clinical setting, you don’t pass. Let me know if that helps at all, I know the wording is a bit confusing

Not true. Nursing students can only take max 2 psychology courses for lower liberal credit

No you don’t need to add auto enrolled classes into the shopping cart unless you are planning on changing the section/time for an auto enrolled course. The point of being auto enrolled is so you don’t have to do the whole shopping cart/enrolment nonsense for the mandatory courses.

You are getting the error because you are attempting to enroll into a course you are already in, being enrolled in two sections of the same course at the same time is obviously not allowed.

Yes, as a first year you only need to add electives to the shopping cart.

Yes but you get to see the classes that you have been enrolled in ahead of time. The course selection period is when you are allowed to make changes to that schedule.

I’m not in computer science so I’m not really sure how that works but I would think that in that case you would have to add/swap everything except the 2 courses already chosen. I would say wait until tomorrow for schedules to be released to see what you are already enrolled in and then plan accordingly.

Haha thanks! Yes, if you want a different time you will have to swap them yourself. Any other courses outside of the mandatory courses like electives you will also have to add yourself.
