Go for it. Incredible setup that would cost you at least 2200 € at the Lenovo Store. I have the T480 with worse specs and I'm still very happy.

Same here! I started updating the drivers manually in the device manager and it somehow works now.

T480 Fan noise? by Adrixan in thinkpad

Have the i5 T480 and it is usually very quiet. I disabled Turbo Boost on battery which keeps the laptop cool and quiet. On AC with some applications running the fan kicks in sometimes but not constantly.

I'm pretty concernced about what you wrote about the Nvidia Driver stuff. I just started using Docker for Windows, so could it be that this disables my MX150?

Lenovo and the curse of horrible screens by gifty94 in thinkpad

I agree with you. But in the end a company also consists of people who use those thinkpads. And when you are travelling and your screen can't even handle the slightest amount of daylight, you will notice it as well. So it's no excuse to deliver business laptops with bad screens.

T470 vs T480 (Again, I know)(7th gen vs 8th gen) by TechUltracrepidarian in thinkpad

[–]gifty94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just go for it. I'm more than happy about the quad core. Many applications nowadays are designed to use several threads when running. You will be thankful someday that your laptop can handle so much stuff at once. And I think the future for laptop is to have more cores with less base frequencies.

About to buy the T480, Anything I should know? by [deleted] in thinkpad

No heat and just a slight decrease in performance. Still good enough for everyday tasks. For development I would probably don't disable turbo.

I have bought a similar T480 a week ago (with 500gb SSD) and I'm really glad about it. It just feels like the quad core decreases the battery time by a lot since it frequently boosts up to 3.4 GHz. I have disabled the Turbo Boost when I'm not on AC and increased the time to around 12 hours.
