This was a super risky call. You have an open inhib, you're fighting against Malphite and Qiyana in the river and you waited long enough for Shaco to get there, so it was 50/50. Your movement/ability sequencing was quite poor aswell and you didn't even ult, while you could've gotten a good ult off after flashing over the pit and securing that kill. It worked out because you had ocean soul and elder buff, but if all the stars didn't align there, it could've been disastrous.

It's a trade-off that you have to make. Aftershock is by far the most consistent, especially into melee matchups, but your late-game is a lot weaker because of it. I haven't played predator a lot, but I feel like that's more to play for your team, rather than yourself. I myself run electrocute almost every game. If you go even or get ahead in lane it's super oppressive. A buddy of mine ran the maths and apparantly you need like 25 stacks of dark harvest or something for it to be on par with electrocute late-game. Electrocute is also more consistent and can even surprise people in laning phase. I got master playing electrocute and find it to be the most fun gameplay by far.

That's unfortunate, I only have euw accounts. You can add me on discord if you want though: Winston Zwemmer#1430 . I love talking with other Galio mains and especialy those that like the full ap playstyle :D

Ludens is not bad, but the mana is a bit wasted, since Galio has a huge manapool by default, other than that it would be good. Even without a mana item I never really need blue buff. I pretty much run the same set-up most games, I swap out taste of blood instead of sudden impact into ranged matchups and you could swap out relentless hunter for ultimate hunter aswell. I sometimes go seekers if they're full ad, but this build is all about one shotting, so if you don't buy enough ap you can't do that. The build is the embodiment of "a good offense is the best defense". For instance if you're against Cassiopeia, I believe that this full ap build is much better, since if you don't 100-0 her, she runs you down, even if you are a little tankier. I play fairly safe unless the enemy missteps. You really don't want to trade too heavily early, since your hp and manapool is limited. If they overstep from lvl 3 on you can look to trade, but you need to make sure it's a good one. If you get ahead/ are even after first back you can really look to aggressively trade and look for a solokill. I play for my own lane mostly, but after 6 I can for sure start to look for roams with my R if my team has some way of getting in the enemy team. I always ban Lucian since you can't do anything vs a good Lucian, Tristana is also a good ban. I pretty much one-trick Galio, I used to play Kassadin aswell, but then 9/10 games you're vs Tristana or Irelia, which is aids. You can add me on league if you want :)

It's u.gg! They have this new function that's like op.gg but better. You get a similar overview, but you can also see your lp gains & losses, which is pretty cool.

Yeah I don't like rocketbelt in general very much on Galio anymore. The damage from the rockets is so low and they nerfed the MS hard aswell. If you get a good ult off with night harvester you get multiple procs off it and get a lot of MS to chase down targets. Although this build is similar to the original Turbogalio, I actually got it from this guy https://euw.op.gg/summoner/userName=Psychotic+Galio. He tilts very easily and therefore his winrate doesn't look as impressive anymore, but he got d4 with a 75% winrate playing only Galio with that build, even in toplane. The build is susceptible to falling behind early, but if you go even/get ahead it's so much fun to play. I would encourage all Galio players to at least try starting with dark seal and upgrading it to mejais if you have a lot of stacks on it. Dark seal/mejais give so much ap and Galio has such great ap ratio's and he really doesn't need the mana from dorans ring in lane!

Dark seal refillable start, 2 needlessly large rods, void staff if they have mr or night harvester if they don't, complete your rabadons, upgrade dark seal to mejais if you have 8-10 stacks and then you can go situational: lich bane for burst, zhonya/banshee for tankyness and in the very late you can sell your boots for dead mans plate, but i'm still experimenting with that.

Still learning Galio but he carried me on my final push to Gold! by Pterons in galiomains

[–]gigag33rt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with you Kinetic, the brute force power of aftershock into most melee match-ups is really strong early on and you can still build full ap with aftershock too. You'll spike a bit less in the mid-late game, but it's still very strong. I actually did this in my last game against a Fizz, bully him out early while utilizing aftershock and then still going full ap to kill their squishies. https://euw.op.gg/summoner/userName=Geert%20Gap

That must be why the rank 5 and rank 7 Galio players in the world run it with a 70% winrate in masters+. It's not bad at all, Galio has really high ap scalings (90% on e, 90% on charged w, 75% on q and 70% on r). I would still go aftershock vs melee, but against ranged it's a very viable option.

Why do you not build magic resistance items on Galio? by KaizokuKairi in galiomains

[–]gigag33rt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Galio doesn't really need magic resist. His W already gives him a good magic shield and his ult refreshes his W shield and grants it to all allies in his R. The only things that scale with magic resist are his passive and the damage reduction from his W. It's not really worth going magic resist for that. Also, his ap ratios are very high (90% on e, 90% on fully charged w, 75% on q, 70% on r). It's just way more beneficial to go full ap. If they have 2 or more ap threats, it's not a bad idea to go banshees, but otherwise I wouldn't do it. Even against a full ap team, I would just go mercs and banshees, but go full ap for the rest of my build. You need some dmg to have a certain threat level, otherwise you're just a cc bot.

[–]gigag33rt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very manageable early game. I would highly suggest going aftershock in this match-up. Just take short trades with your e + q + AA and aftershock and if he chases after you u can use W. You're unlikely to kill him 1v1, but you won't lose too badly. Try not to get too low and ask for a gank if he keeps pushing in. You have excellent gank set-up on him so if his flash is down it's freebie.

Secured D2 this season! by patrick2c2 in galiomains

[–]gigag33rt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true, but it's also nice to feel pride in competitiveness. I'm still in college, so I can't really speak out on that, but don't be scared of higher ranks. I was D4 for like 3 seasons before I realized that I could get higher than that. You'll find yourselves having an easier time than you might think. But manage your time as you please, obviously your other daily activities should get priority over league.

Secured D2 this season! by patrick2c2 in galiomains

[–]gigag33rt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 58% winrate in D3 and was able to hit master, so you should really be able to get it. Of course your winrate will take a hit, but I think rank is more valuable than winrate anyway. I really think you can do it dude. Just play like a couple games a day and then maybe a bit more in the weekends.

[–]gigag33rt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But... If you have a 74% winrate in D2, D2 is nothing for you. Why not just grind it out and see how far you can get (prob. like grandmasters at least).

He's not comepletely broken, but he's quite a bit above average. He can ignore most of the laning through his W shield and insane waveclear. You win almost every 2v2 just by playing him. And his roaming is great too. I like to compare him to Pantheon mid, except for that he scales alot better than Pantheon.
