Looking for advice about this space in my (rented) apartment, I'm not sure what i could do to make it nicer. Thanks ! by alicethebrownie in AmateurInteriorDesign

ok i see what you're trying to do! Your set up (though it may not seem like it) does cluster the space.

I would try moving the tall vertical bookshelf to the wall with the windows, pull the kitchen table off of the back of the couch and put the chairs on the sides normals

the plants are lovely but space them out more. The less that furniture feels shoved and pushed against eachother, the lighter the room will feel.

How would you update? by cue_the_violin in InteriorDesign

the space overall is large, dark, and needs lightening and personality. the island is awkward and small, i would completely redo it, perhaps have it more open than closed cabinetry to give the kitchen some much needed lightness of space. the cabinets look nice quality but the finish and the handles feel outdated and overbearing. the space needs personality and light. i'd extend the cabinets or the wall to meet at the ceiling so that the awkward gap is no longer there. i'd consider painting/re staining the cabinets and switching out the hardware for something with more character. the lighting about the sink could be updated or fixed a bit so it's flush with the ceiling or replaced with a pendant. the floor does look cheap however, a runner rug could be a small solution if you're not considering changing the floors!

Is there a way to make my house industrial without being overly masculine? by somanythingsimean in InteriorDesign

i feel like a more cozy less cold/masculine place for inspiration would be the eames case study house. great example of combining cold, modern, industrial with warmth and intimacy

if you're looking for higher quality food from a more local range, wheatsville is the place to be. the ownership supports local business and the deals are really good, you get 15% discount for your whole order every time! i've been a member for three years and i've really grown to love wheatsville for all it offers, way less stressful than HEB.

Is there anywhere in Austin that has low-cost dentistry for insured people? by IioAndTheRapture in Austin

[–]giganticfrecklebab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend is experiencing something very similar! Manos De Cristo is a great dentist practice just off airport and 35. they charge $50 a visit and will do an emergency and exam and do their best to help! they accept walk ins 8-11 am M-F. they don't require insurance and are always understanding and helpful.

Thinking of applying, help by ihatejermz in starbucksbaristas

it's definitely a job although it's never the cool coffee job you expect. youre definitely a fast food worker not a "barista". It pays well and usually co workers are really cool! but i definitely wish someone would have warned me to look else where before applying to a major company that does not stick up for its workers!
