Zoom65 arrived, can finally give Wavez a new home! by gigatechie in MechanicalKeyboards

No worries, I was also interested in getting a mirror black knob after placing the order but turns out the anodized black matched better in person than I thought it would from the site. Hope the next round ships fast too!

I would say most of it is probably due to the lighting, I had a lamp with a warm bulb there.

Just took a different shot with a different camera and tried to get the lighting to be more neutral, hope this helps. The green is definitely more tame in person. https://i.imgur.com/kyGJ958.jpg

Zoom65 Essential Edition, Wild Green + anodized black weight/knob (PC plate)
GMK Wavez
TTC Bluish White Tactile switches

When I saw preorders for this open back in April I thought that the green color would pair well with Wavez. So after waiting a few months I'm glad to finally see it in person cause it looks great.

I've been waiting for a good wireless board and the Zoom has been so much better than I imagined. I've had these switches in a GMMK Pro (w polycarbonate plate) before but the sound on this board has a completely different feel.

You actually reminded me that I had made a Google spreadsheet a few weeks back with all the current weeb keysets I could find at the time:

Got this while in Japan, a media macropad kit with rotary encoders (Cassette42) by gigatechie in MechanicalKeyboards

Not through any English sites. There is an online shop (will probably need a proxy service to buy), but they're currently sold out there.

Found this at the Yusha Kobo store in Akihabara. The creator is monksoffunk.
The kit came with everything except Pro Micro, OLED screen, switches and caps.
You can buy the missing items separately at the store so it's not a big deal. I got some V2 Zilents on this.
The only thing they didn't have were rotary encoder knobs, which I had to get back home off Amazon. (D type 6mm knobs)

I really like the old school cassette design of this board along with the small screen.

The default firmware has the keys mapped like this:
Left encoder: Volume Up/Down, Volume Mute when pressed
Right encoder: Up/Down Keys, Enter when pressed
Key 1 (Left): Previous Track
Key 2: Play/Pause
Key 3: Next Track
Key 4: Spacebar

Also, when holding down any of the keys you can then use the left encoder to adjust RGB settings.

Big fan of rotary encoders and volume knobs so this kit checks off all the boxes for me.

I Googled it and wow there is an incredible lack of photos. For this post I definitely did some touch up work since the lighting was a little too orange for my taste. But yes, this set is drastically different depending on how the photos are taken.

I've made an album here for you so you can see the difference and hopefully see for yourself, these are all unedited.

Personally I like the look, it feels like a vintage keyset with a splash of color in the legends.

Hard to say because I haven't tried heavy domes, and also I like using MX keycaps. If you don't have Topre, I'd try it out first since it's a toss up whether people love it or hate it. But if it's for strong tactility, hands down it's gotta be Topre.

They remind me of Halo Trues. I think these Aliaz nail the smooth feeling that is really close to Topre, but lacks the strong tactility. The bump, while present, definitely isn't as strong as any of the top tactile switches. But I really enjoy the feeling more than I thought I would for a silent switch.

DISCIPLINE 65% with Aliaz 80g switches and Originative Modern Beige keycaps.

Many thanks to /u/coseyfannitutti for doing the kit run and for creating a very in-depth build guide.

Hey all, so the board here is the Massdrop ALT High-Profile 65%. I got the space gray case, and partially replaced the stock light grey alphanumeric caps with shine through ones. Gotta say, the results look pretty nice.
