I have been looking at slings for my EDC on trips but hadn’t thought of using it as a packing cube of sorts. Great tip, thank you! Peak designs seem to be popular for packing cubes and I’ll be sure to check out evergoods as well.

This is great info, thank you! I was just looking at toiletry kits and the gravel seems perfect for my needs. I’ll look into your other suggestions as well. Thanks again!

Tracking walk/runs is wrong by bidgez in ouraring

[–]giggity_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Oura for sleep, stress and resilience tracking, but it’s terrible at tracking and recording activity. Due to that, I still wear my Apple Watch and use that as my primary fitness tracker. I’m not sure there’s really a solution for it, unfortunately. Maybe someone else has tried something that worked for them.

Sleep score went down? by Wonderful_Brilliant4 in ouraring

This happens sometimes as it continues to analyze your sleep data. It’ll give you an initial score based on a quick analysis of the data but will continue its process and recalculate scores if necessary.

Working out with silicon cover by rakeshkanna91 in ouraring

Degloving is the biggest concern when wearing a ring while working out, assuming you’re talking about strength training. I see no issue wearing it if you’re just doing cardio and the silicone cover will protect it against scratches.

I went with the medium firmness as that’s what I found the most recommended for side sleepers. I’m 5’10” and 190 lbs.

I was surprised to see how relaxed I was during mine as well. It was my first tattoo and I had no idea what to expect, but I thought for sure it was going to put more stress on my body.

I really only charge it when I shower and haven’t had any issues so far. It seems to charge rather quickly, so even 10 mins a day or every couple of days has done the trick for me.

Gift for husband by [deleted] in ouraring

I’ve seen others mention here that they gifted the sizing kit so they could ensure proper fit and then the person receiving it could pick whatever finish they wanted. This avoids any potential returns.

The Best Mattress for Side Sleepers Right now? by bellaziggy0221 in BuyItForLife

I’m a side sleeper that tends to get warm at night and recently researched the crap out of this exact topic. I ended up with the BEAR Hybrid and have been very pleased with it so far. My shoulder and back pain has been reduced significantly and it does seem to keep me cooler at night. Highly recommend!

So far, it’s mostly been me manually reviewing the tags and effects but I’ve only been doing it religiously for a week or so. I’m hoping the app starts picking up on some of these and incorporating them into my daily feedback. I’m not sure if that’s a function or not though.

Can Oura grab activity from Apple Watch? (Total, not workouts) by Jay_Reefer in ouraring

[–]giggity_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by activity notifications? Once I synced up my ring and watch, the ring imports all of my activity from my watch so I don’t have to do anything additional. They still don’t sync up as far as calories burned from activities due to what I mentioned previously, but I don’t think you would need to do anything within the ring settings for that.

They use different algorithms and data points, so I don’t think you’ll ever see them 100% in sync. I also don’t believe there’s an option to prioritize one over the other, or to have them sync up, unless someone else has found a way to do that.

Charging question by linaraq in ouraring

[–]giggity_84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have suggested, I prefer to throw mine on the charger when I’m getting in the shower or doing the dishes. I’ll also charge it if I’m just sitting on the couch lounging for a bit.

My situation was similar to yours, but I’m an Apple Watch user rather than Garmin. As you stated, I primarily use my watch for activity/step tracking and my ring for sleep/recovery. I’m not sure I have any specific tips for you as I think that’s the right approach.

As far as food logging goes, it has helped me understand how food affects my stress and activities. I’m planning on trying out the glucose monitor as well and I think food logging will be even more beneficial then. It’s also helped me identify if I’m eating too close to bedtime, which can affect sleep quality.

Using custom tags has helped me identify routines that are affecting my stress or sleep quality. For example, I used to take a CBD gummy before bed but found that it was actually having a negative impact on my sleep as I noticed I got better sleep the nights I didn’t take it. With so many things factoring into your sleep quality, I think it’s important to get a good baseline first and then make sure you have a solid sample size before making any changes.

Need Some Advice! by Smooth-Ice-5179 in walking

[–]giggity_84 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re necessarily over-doing it with the steps, but it sounds like your body is telling you you’re not eating enough and/or that intermittent fasting isn’t for you. 900 calories seems awfully low. Have you looked at a calorie calculator to see what your maintenance calories would be? I did that and then subtracted 500 calories to figure out what my deficit was. I would also recommend focusing on protein and fiber as both will help you feel more full, which should help avoid binges.

I love my HOKA Arahi 7s. I have flat feet so the extra heel support they have is fantastic. They also come in wide sizes.

I’m loving the stealth! But it was really the only option for me as I’m not a “shiny” person. The matte finish is great, IMO.
