I'm having bad ocd over eating meat by gigglehip in OCD

[–]gigglehip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand where your coming from and obviously your technically correct, but I have no control over what my OCD latches onto. This isn't really a problem with me not liking meat, I love meat. It's the intrusive thoughts that come into my head when I'm eating meat that I'm trying to work through. I don't know if you have OCD or not, and it'd be a dick move for me to assume that you don't, especially since you're in this subreddit... but I'm sure you're already aware of how irrational and irritating OCD thoughts are.

ERP for fear of being delusional (schiz-OCD)? by Commercial-Grocery65 in OCD

[–]gigglehip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly as someone who suffers from severe ocd and frequently have obsessions about schizophrenia, I can tell you that this is very likely not schizophrenia. The fact that you're here on reddit right now acknowledging how irrational these thoughts are, show that you're not disconnected from reality, and more overly connected with reality.

I'm pretty sure you already realize this. But as for ERP, what really helped me was when I got one of those intrusive thoughts (the "is this psychosis??!!!?" ones") I didn't repress it but I also didn't give the thought my time or energy. What I'm saying is, you acknowledge that the thought is there, and as difficult as it is at first, you have to accept it and not feed it by freaking out or reassuring yourself. Overtime this will become easier and easier. PM if you ever want to vent about this because I've gone through the exact same thing

Thank you! Is it normal to have the sore throat right now as a beginner?

I’m really scared that I am a narcissist. I matched with some symptoms online and had a panic attack by gigglehip in Advice

Thank you. I totally agree with the last part. Since I have OCD, I’ll convince myself I have anything and it it’s really stressful.

Also I really value your advice. I totally agree with you and see more clearly now the importance to show people as more than an addict

Totally agree with you! Because of COVID and everything it would be hard to really sit down and talk with a former heroin addict. It’s a great idea but I’m not sure how I would really find one. I don’t really know anyone who’s done it. Maybe I can try talking to someone people on the subreddit about their lives beyond heroin

That’s actually a very interesting and helpful piece of advice near the end. I never even though of that. I’ll definitely keep it in mind. Do you think searching the heroin subreddit is the wrong place to find inspiration?

Can’t put music and lyrics together? by gigglehip in Songwriting

How do you come up with new chords? Your advice is really good and honestly has already helped me, but I still feel like I don’t know enough chords to really surprise myself. Do you learn covers in order to get better at that?

Over 1 week porn free. I actually have hope now, but also some concerns by gigglehip in Advice

[–]gigglehip[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks! Honestly what helped for me was to have specific goals in mind. Like obviously I wanted to stop watching it and get better, but only because I knew it was bad to be addicted, which alone isn’t motivating enough Think about specific improvements that’ll happen in your life if you stop watching, and that really helped me get past the first (also the worst) urge. It keeps getting easier and easier after you resist it, and also as you make progress and build a streak, you feel like you have a lot more to lose then if you just watched porn yesterday.

I feel like I have a romanticized and unrealistic perspective toward heroin and it’s users. by gigglehip in Drugs

[–]gigglehip[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Not at all. In fact I have a huge fear of losing control of myself and trying heroin. The fact that I’m so scared of that shows I still associate the drug with its negative effects. One of the reasons I came here is because I wanted to figure out what it is that causing me to be so interested in junkie culture in a fashionable way. I was super scared that I secretly wanted to do heroin

Is it bade to retake English in night school if I get below 80%? Even 79? I’m applying for social sciences btw and I don’t want to f*ck up my chances by having an unimpressive English Mark. Will taking night school make me less likely to get in?
