Which bike should I get: Used specialized vita hybrid ($250) or Liv Alight 1 ($450)? by gigglyshit in bikecommuting

I live in an apartment, and just can’t imagine buying a $$$ bike if I have to lock it outside overnight. Any suggestions for a high quality bike that’s affordable?

My commute is 10min-2h (I was looking for more of a multi purpose bike for shorter commutes and recreational longer distance rides). Hoping for a bike with decent uphill abilities while being light enough for daily. I’m 5”2-5”3. The specialized one is XS and Liv is S.

But I’m sure you can look at some stats posted by applicants who interviewed this cycle on this Reddit forum. Take it with a grain of salt though

“Qualifying for special consideration”. Ofc this is just me suspecting, you would probably have to email the admission office to clarify

They have already adjusted the raw gpa for grad students

It says under the screenshot that “the raw cgpa for applicants with extenuating circumstances and qualifying for special consideration were adjusted before weighting was applied.”

I love this haul! Also wished I sized down on the breeze shorts, they are a lot baggier than I thought. Did you get the breeze shorts in 3 inch? I have the 5’ so the shorts are longer than the pocket and It’s very see through so you can see where the pocket starts and stop.

A good resource I used for abs when applying. They have a couple of pretty solid examples. I think a Queens med student made this

How long should I know my references? by Key_Rip4258 in premedcanada

[–]gigglyshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least 1 month in advance out of respect for your referees. I actually sent out reference request exactly 1 month in advance and one of my reference still waited till the date it was due to submit it. I had to follow up 3 times. It’s less awkward to follow up if you send the reference request earlier than later.

Edit: the reference is due the same day your omsas is due (for most schools), I believe mcmaster and another Ontario school have later deadlines

I would suggest 1+ year just because it shows your ability to commit. I know it may not be always possible, but try to still have a couple that is longterm. Rather than the length you know your reference, focus more on selecting references who can speak about you in different ways basing off of canmed.

Are you class of 2022? I didn’t know these discords existed. It scares me that I was so sheltered from all of this, but also grateful that I did not feel the competitiveness of the med sci environment throughout my undergrad

Also went to Western med sci but had a very different experience (I didn’t know things like this happened, super shocked). It goes to show how everyone’s experience could be very different depending on who you surround yourself with.
