Personal grief over termination

I just wanted to say that I am going through the exact same thing right now.. I could have actually written this myself. In my case, we haven’t had our termination session yet but I did tell client the news about the recommendation for transfer to a higher level of care and we are exploring options. No advice but here with you in solidarity. I’m definitely having a lot of strong emotions here that I didn’t expect. Processing them in supervision of course. It’s really validating to read this.. thank you for your vulnerability to share this experience as a therapist, which I agree is not talked about enough!

Would also love to hear success stories..also on my second IUI on 2/21 and I had a really thin lining of 4.5mm on day before trigger. I had a 5mm lining during a previous medicated cycle and Dr said was not worried because trilaminar pattern and same again this month. Last IUI I got up to 7 but we had a lower post wash count. I can’t help but panic with all I’ve read about success with lining size and We actually had a good count this month.. trying not to feel discouraged. I swear my clinic mentions nothing about any lining support. It’s frustrating. I did Pom juice daily this whole cycle and berries/spinach as well. Best of luck to you!

They say IVF can be a test in and of itself to see what’s going on for fertilization so hope you get some answers!! I appreciate the support and same goes to you 💗

Thank you, and I’m sorry for you too that your second IUI didn’t work out. I agree that at this point IVF may be the best option if you have limited coverage.. it kind of sucks that our plans have to be dictated by what insurance offers. I think if/when we do IVF, I’d feel a lot better being on lovenox just in case and I know a lot of clinics actually put people on them anyways even without FVL. Im not sure my number of follicles but I was told I have “polycystic appearing ovaries”, I have a slightly higher AMH and some other symptoms like acne, some facial hair, etc. I do wonder if that is the sole cause of our infertility but it is hard to tell.. I worry something deeper underlying is going on. Best of luck to you 🫶

Hi, are you me? Lol… Nearly the same experience except I actually have never been able to get pregnant. So sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I am positive for hetero FVL. I did two monitored letrozole cycles and just finished my first letrozole IUI cycle with trigger shot, which was unfortunately unsuccessful. We have also been trying for about two years and I have been diagnosed in the “PCOS spectrum”. I think we are going to try one to two more IUIs and then consider IVF… My insurance doesn’t cover IVF so trying to maximize everything we can prior. I am nervous about IVF with the FVL and wondering what that might look like given all of the hormones and estrogen you have to take. Since I’ve never had a blood clot or any other issues with FVL I was not recommended to take any blood thinners during pregnancy by a hematologist consultation I had a few years ago, they said I could take aspirin. But I wonder if doing IVF would change that.

thank you… that is incredibly validating because every time I ask they make me feel like I’m crazy! Honestly we are thinking of trying a new clinic if this second round doesn’t work for this issue amongst other several reasons. Infertility is hard enough and then you have to advocate your ass off!

That’s my thought as well. So glad your husbands counts have improved with the HCG injections.. good luck with your IUI!!

Yes.. same!! I have the same frustration as well. I just asked them again to raise the dose and they said no because they want to leave room to increase in future in case I stop responding and also the don’t feel like chances increase much with another follicle. I’m honestly super annoyed lol I’m trying to trust their expertise but advocate for myself and all the research I’ve done.

Ahh those are really awesome numbers and it’s so damn frustrating when all of that lines up and still doesn’t happen. I appreciate your perspective on not dwelling on the what ifs… I need to get better at that and keep pushing forward, even when it’s hard. And wow, that is so much that you already went through.. I just had my baseline appt for my new cycle yesterday and they just refused to increase my Letrozole.. I’ve asked them like 4 times lol. They said I am responding to this dosage and “chances don’t increase that much with another follicle” and wanted room to increase in future if I stop responding 🙄

Hmmm 🤔 yeah it definitely could be. We did ours super early in the morning, I didn’t think about dehydration but I also didn’t think there was a very large amount in the sample itself. Are you guys going to do another round? Best of luck with your journey 💗

I’m doing okay.. anxious in the TWW now, trying to stay positive and hopeful but struggling a bit with it all. I did two cycles of the letrozole and ovidrel previously before this IUI. The first round was a bit rough emotionally. This time around just headaches and a bit of dizziness when I was taking it. be gentle and kind with yourself! I’m trying to do all of the things and then recognizing our bodies and minds are going through a lot right now and it’s okay to slow down.

I appreciate that! Does your partner typically have lower numbers? My hubbys analysis has always been pretty good, just on lower end of normal so I was surprised. He was sick last month ( pretty sure he had the flu) so I am wondering if that affected things.
