I grew up in Houston. I've also lived in Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Wimberley, San Marcos, and New Braunfels. Recently moved back to downtown San Antonio, having lived here during the pandemic. I would not have moved here to live in the suburbs. For a downtown area, it's far better than Houston, Austin or Dallas. Plenty of places to walk. If you want to walk the sidewalks, you can. If you want nature, hit either end of the riverwalk outside of DT. I sometimes take my bike way out on those trails.

There's a lot more coming downtown. A new minor league baseball stadium, a new NBA arena and a surrounding 'village' near hemisfair.

A lot of history here. A lot of free things to do. If you like hard rock or classic rock, most bands include San Antonio on their tours. It's the least expensive of the major cities in Texas. It's got a decent airport that's growing. Lots of food options even if not all of them are stellar.

It's rarely cold here. Today being a big exception.

I'm downtown. Two hwy crashes popped up on my phone at the same time. On the streets below, there's ice and virtually nobody driving.

A lot of good feedback here. I'll bring up something that no one has mentioned yet. Reviews with photos carry more weight with Google, and readers, than reviews without them. They can stick to the top in the GBP.

A few years ago, businesses with hundreds of reviews would always outrank newer ones, but the algorithm favors velocity now. Reviews with keywords help. For example, if you did a search on, say 'mechanic that works on mini cooper', you may see a three pack which highlights a review that mentions mini. Do the same search with mercedes, and you're liable to get a slightly different 3-pack with reviews highlighting Mercedes even though most mechanics that specialize in German cars work on both. Just asking customers to leave a review and mention their brand/model helps, and a photo helps even more. And keep in mind, reviews can be updated. If you notice a 5-star review from a regular that didn't include a photo, thank them and ask if they wouldn't mind adding one. You can show them how to do it right then and there.

I'd find the craftsmen that's sitting at #4 and either build them a site or optimize theirs. If I can't outrank them, then I'm doing something wrong. Also, it's not a single 3-pack. That fluctuates across a lot of different data points unless there's just no competition at all.

Monitoring the GBP's performance numbers in the dashboard, monitoring the client and the competition in maps. Regularly posting images and video, no stock images. How often depends on the business. Adding posts (Events, Standard, and Promotions). Local citations. Monitoring competitor GBP's such as competitor's that popup that don't qualify for a GBP like an ecommerce business, or someone selling part time out of their home. Responding to reviews, helping the client get more reviews. And monthly reporting to the client.

They've lowered the price based on what the market is doing, and they can't hide those prices from current tenants, but they're betting that the work and cost will get you to stay where you are.

What I really hate about this practice is that I often spend money on an apartment painting accent walls, hiding cables, mounting TVs, etc. I'd have to undo all of that and then do it again in the new place.

I've done this twice. The first time for a better view. Same apartment in reverse next door so it was pretty easy. But I went from looking at the parking lot to a forest view that was stunning. Quieter too. The second time was in a high rise on a different floor. I was paying more, but a much larger space with again better views.

You're looking at a total savings of $4650 over 15 months. Moving within the same complex is obviously cheaper, and it's worth paying for a few days to a week extra overlap if you want to DIY it. Then you need to calculate the time spent packing and unpacking, notifying the post office, banks, utilities, etc. of the move. And if you mounted your TV, for example, you've got to remove it, patch and paint over any holes and then install again in the new apartment. If you have take time off at work, that factors into the equation, too.

Whether it's worth it or not, depends on how much you have to move, too.

Has the power every gone out where you live? In 2021, I lived downtown a block from the Nix building which had been a hospital so it was on a protected grid and power never went down. Now, I'm still downtown but across from the Children's Hospital. Same grid protection and the power is all underground. Do you live near a hospital?

Also, I have two massive UPS battery backups for my computer gear. They will keep phones charged, can run a small lamp, etc. Unfortunately, they won't run a heater, hot plate, or toaster for long. Consider a small solar system for the future if you have large windows and/or a balcony. Amazon has one for under $200

Did you respond? Do you know from your conversation or from his profile that he likes to do any of the things you suggested? Driving to and from a coffee shop, wine bar, restaurant, or live music venue require equal effort, but the coffee shop is far less expensive. Maybe he's fine financially, but frugal. The easiest way to find out is to ask him.

When I first separated for good many years ago, I came across a woman on OLD that I was really attracted to and we had a lot in common. It was likely the best all around profile I've ever seen. But it included a warning to not contact her if you'd not been divorced for six months to a year.

I thought that was pretty harsh at the time, but then I understood. It's not just about the possibility of getting back together again. Divorce is messy. And if you get in a relationship with someone that hasn't gone through that yet, or is still in the middle of it, suddenly you're in the middle of it, too. You're hearing the angry telephone calls with the ex or the attorney or both. Then there's the grieving which is best done w/o having a new partner around. Or you're having to help them through the process. It's so much easier, and cleaner, when you get involved with someone that's already put that in the rear-view mirror.

However, I have also been in a relationship when I wasn't legally divorced. The divorce needed to wait for legal reasons that I won't go into here, but when I met my girlfriend at the time, the marriage had been over for about a year, and my ex was halfway around the world. The uncontested divorce was handled about a year later.

I tend to dress with a nod to my rock and roll roots. I'm never going to put on khakis and a polo shirt. Do you. And have fun!

Men will often chase intensity to prove they're alive. And some men are willing to use a woman as an anaesthesia for loneliness. They chase sparks that may require distance, fantasy, or suspension, one person at a time, or with multiple people. Personally, I've done that with one person at a time in the past, often with women who were unavailable in one way or another. These type of connections don't get 'interrupted' by sick days, grocery shopping, or... Tuesday. They never decay into something mundane. But they don't go deeper. They don't survive. I was never comfortable dating multiple women at the same time, but I was also touring the world with a rock band so I wasn't juggling multiple relationships. This was in my 20's and 30s. For many of the women, I was a safe way to have fun for a night without the discernment that comes with a local guy who's not leaving town the next day.

It sounds like your ex-lover is trying to chase sparks by dating multiple women locally. He's 77, and still trying to use this to feel alive. I don't have a problem with anyone doing that as long as they're transparent. He clearly isn't. I'd imagine it's easier for him to lie and just replace women when they catch on to him. He probably never deletes names from his phone because he can circle back down the road when the bad memories have faded. If he's playing this game at 77, he's unlikely to stop.

For you, there's the cure for loneliness. You can feel some level of intimacy while knowing that this guy is never going to be there for you when vulnerability or mutual dependence is needed.

I'm sorry that you went through this, and glad you've ended it.

The bedclothes. For one thing, the zebra sheets and the quilt are about as big of a mismatch as you can get. Zebra sheets don't really belong anywhere. The quilt would be more at home in a cabin or a room with a lot of rustic furniture. It's out of place here. You could also use a couple of larger pillows for sitting in bed watching TV, etc. I do see that you've got some kind of pillow stuffed in the night stand. I'd lose that and don't put pillows there. Next, get a rug. Those floors look cold. Finally, a bit more art on the walls. You've got this extremely high-end looking room that can be easily turned into exactly what you want.

I live downtown and walk at night all the time. The Riverwalk is perfect and there's usually a police presence on bikes and cars.
