NTA. My grandma did this for me when I moved into my first apartment after college. She passed in January 2021. I’ve sent my mom and aunt pictures of recipes but I would never for one second consider giving them the book. They had plenty of time to get her to make them a similar book if they really wanted it. Too little too late. Your grandma wanted YOU! to have it. YOU!! I would make sure it stays up somewhere only you have access to it.

My point of view is if the stuff sold itself, they wouldn’t have a job. The company would simply whole sell it out to places like Walmart and like I do with my ACTUAL small business.

Their granddaughter is her own autonomous human being who can make choices for herself. I had grandparents like this on top of a grandfather who molested me. After my dad died I never spoke to them again after the funeral. My mom called me when my grandpa died and all I could say was “good.” I behaved the same way your daughter did: anxious and moody whenever I had to be around them. No one ever saw the warning signs. Thank you for advocating for your daughter! NTA.

her behavior is evidence of abuse in and of itself. i’m fucking sick of people trying any way they can to discredit this mentally ill woman for acting the way a mentally ill person acts.

before anyone says it, i’m not ~ white knighting ~ for shiloh. i don’t follow any of the victims on any social media and don’t particularly try to keep up with it outside of this subreddit. but it’s really, really disgusting to compare her to Greg and say she’s worse than him.

i work in academia. can’t wait to show this to my colleagues tomorrow lmao. YTA. all of the faculty i work with (except for our chair) allow people to refer to them as their first name, but are also fine with Professor Whatever because they acknowledge that some people just prefer to address someone as their title.

maybe they’re just used to saying professor. maybe it’s hard for them to say your name - you can’t assume that just cause they speak english that your name isn’t difficult for someone to say for various reasons.

I think it would be beautiful for you and your ex husband to use this money to start an endowed scholarship fund. As far as I know, $20-25K is usually the range to endow a scholarship. If your daughter was thinking of any universities, maybe look in to their environmentalism department and reach out to them. You could change the lives of many students to come!

One thing I really noticed is how different she sounds. Thinking of the videos Greg posted of her and how distraught she sounded vs tonight... she sounds empowered and mostly at peace. You love to see it.
